Please I'm sorry ...

Please I'm Sorry

Mummy, Mummy, on the wall,
Who is the safest one of all?
"You are, darling," she would say,
She'd tell me - quick - to run away.

But Dad would scream
And rage and shout
And thrash and stab and stamp and clout.
He'd keep her pinned,
Against the wall,
With no peace, safety or help to call.

I'd sit there,
"Mummy?"
And cry all day,
Listening and listening to what Mummy'd say.
She'd say,
"We're leaving,
It's time to pack,"
But then old Daddy would be coming back.

Then he'd sling Mum on the floor,
Slam and slam and close the door,
I'd hear muffled screams,
And groans of pain,
Dad would scream,
"NEVER AGAIN!"

Dear old Mummy,
As I'm standing here,
I recall you whispering into my ear,
"He'll kill me, you know,
And when he does,
Be strong,
Still love me,
But kick up no fuss."

"Okay," I'd say,
I do recall,
I see her pinned against the wall,
I see her crying and bowed in shame,
My Daddy hits her
Again ...
and
Again ...

By her coffin,
My life is cold,
Shrivelled and withered,
Not young, but old.
My Daddy comes,
I shoo him away,
I'll kill him, I swear,
I will one day.

"Please I'm sorry ..."
He's wrapped in shame,
Out comes my gun.
"Never again ..."

Tommy, this would make a great rap-song. You've got a really good sense of rhythm. It's not my choice of subject, but that's purely personal:cool:
