Question regarding bookclub section

Since I couldn't find the faq for the bookclub sticky, I thought I'd post here.

How does the bookclub operate? Is the book of the month chosen arbitrarily, or is it voted on by the members? If the latter, where does the nomination process take place, and how long do people have to read the book before the discussion opens?

A thread is normally posted in the General Book Discussion forum where members can put forward choices for the next few months.

There isn't really a vote as such, but it's more of a group decision. Certain months are more popular than others.

I'm hoping to revamp "Book of the Month" and choose at least six months worth of books to give people plenty of time.
