Main character is a male archaeologist living in England perhaps. Ice is melting and Noah's Ark is being uncovered as a result. Expedition to this site. Bad guys (of course) are seeking to prevent this. News of the expedition leads to a retired American police detective providing information to our hero regarding a family member (great grandfather perhaps) who hid his journal just prior to being killed. Journal is found and this leads to a search for the Garden of Eden. One of the clues is a tree starting to grow up in a desert-like area which is a very unlikely spot for it to be growing at all. When first encountered it is not a tree but a root sticking up or something like that. A rival archaeologist is also searching, causing problems, and working with the bad guys. Seems as if the bad guys are very wealthy evil twins.
I read this book perhaps 4 or 5 years ago and think it was a recent publication then but I could be way off base on that. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
