I just finished watching Simon Birch. I had no idea it was actually based on A Prayer for Owen Meany when I taped it. I haven't read the book, but I might add it to my list of books to read. The movie was rather nice.

Why did they change his name?

I have see this film. It was bit sad. I didn't know it was based on book too.

I read the book years ago before there was a movie. The book was WONDERFUL!
I thought they did a good job with the movie but of course they couldn’t include everything from the book. There were many scenes from the book which I missed when I saw the movie.

That happens to most books that are made into movies I'm afraid. I guess we just have to live with the fact that the movie isn't, and will never be the same as the book.

Yeah, I agree with you, lies. Most of times, I prefer books than movies.

It's not about preferring one thing to another, it's just that they are two entirely different media.

John Irving disliked this movie, so he withdrew his name from it and it had to be re-named.

Aaah... That does clear matters up. I didn't see that much wrong with the movie, but I guess that's the privilige of authors.
