I just purchased two Dean Koontz books used at a college bookstore for $2.50 each. Great deal and the books aren't bad considering the price. Anyhow, I noticed that on one of them the binding is slightly beginning to detach at either end of the spine. I was wondering if anyone knew of a glue I could use to touch it up so that it does not get worse and begin to loose pages. Any suggestions would be great!! Thanks!

There are specialist companies that bind these things, but unless the book is of importance or value there would be no point.

You can also get DIY book binding kits.

Any sort of contact cement glue should be okay to use.

If there is still plenty of glue in the book you could perhaps try ironing the cover (not too hot a setting) so that the glue will melt and become tacky again, hopefully this will repair some of the damage. If you opt for this ironing method I would suggest popping the book into a plastic bag and sticking it in the freezer to dry it out aftewards.

Hope this helps.

There does appear to still be glue holding the pages together. It is the actual spine that has begun to peel off. So maybe the iron would be a good choice. I appreciate your help.
