Considering there isn't a whole lot of January left to either acquire or read a book for February I suggest we go for a short story or novella. :)

How about Richard Flanagan's "The Narrow Road to The Deep North?"
It won the Booker and it seems a few people on forum have read it already, so we might actually be able to get a discussion going (laughs).

Anti-aging creams, muscle- building marvels, served up in gibberish…..I confess I feel a little better about peddling my books.

If you bought any of them that would be funny.

So is there a chance there will be a group read or is there no interest?

I would say the thread appears to have died slowly but without pain.

    Yes.
Never thought I would see the day :(
All bow heads, for a book forum without a book discussion.

Hello Peder, good to see your name, it is sad that there is to be no book discussion.

Also if you or anyone is interested in a discussion for May I am finally wrapping up Wolf Hall by Hillary Mantel, and it was pretty exceptional....
Let me know if you have read it or have a desire to. My schedule is crazy so I usually recommend books I have read or are in the process of reading for discussions. Very selfish I know.... :(

Great review 753, I had missed the part about Darky Gardiner being related to Dorrigo. The review I posted for you I used again on another forum I belong to but tweaked it a bit more and tidied up some parts.

Haven't read Wolf Hall and could maybe be persuaded to have a go - I did try to read Bring Up The Bodies by Mantel (I think I have the title correct) and couldn't get into it at all. Was confused at first about the other Cromwell and his association with the Roundheads. You can tell I am not too good with historical novels unless they are in the recent past! I'll have a think on it and let you know.

Anyway, I think you did a great job on your review of The Narrow Road.:)

I moved your posts about The Narrow Road into a shiny new thread. Please feel free to create a new discussion thread for a different book suggestion.

Just to let you know that I have requested the book Wolf Hall from the library and will let you know when I get it and maybe we can start a new thread for May for discussion of this? Let me know if you are still interested.

Yes I am interested. I am still finishing it up. It has taken me forever to get through it, not because I haven't enjoyed it but more just lack of time. Anyhow I think Bring Up The Bodies was the sequel to Wolf Hall. Maybe the one might help you enjoy the other? I am looking forward to the next one. Mantel's style takes a little getting used to. Before I started Wolf Hall, I read a great bit of advice for reading the book. I can't remember where I read it, maybe an Amazon review. Anyway the advice was that 95% of the time Mantel uses the word "he" she is referring to Cromwell. Sounds simple but that little piece of advice stood me in good stead through this novel, so I figured I would pass it along...
