Suggestions for public history book

Hello All,

I'm having alot of trouble trying to find a book on European history. I'd like the focus to be on how the countries were divided but above all, I'd like it to be "light reading" and definately not academic. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I'd appreciate the help!!

How about The Complete Idiot's Guide to European History? The Idiot's Guides are actually pretty good and it looks like this gives the broad overview that you want.

Thanks, for the suggestion. I did look into this one book it looks a little too long! The person I'm buying it for doesn't have a lot of time to read!!Do you know any others?

The Idiots Guides are pretty easy to read and let's face it: compressing 2000 years of history into less than 200 pages is a tall order.
