Terry Pratchett's Tiffany Aching books are a lot of fun...a great blend of humor and fantasy with a great heroine. There are three so far, in this order: Wee Free Men, Hat Full of Sky and Wintersmith.
I'd recommend them even if you don't care for Pratchett's other work...I've not really been able to get into his other work (with the exception of Good Omens, which he co-wrote with Neil Gaiman), but found the Tiffany books to be very enjoyable.
