Anyone like this magazine? I just can't put it down, an excellent read with tons of information on anything and everything. They also have a neat *post & ripose* section on their website. Unfortunately, it's only able to subscribers, though I don't have that problem as I have a guest subscription....gotta love christmas. This month's edition has a great article by Paul Ellie regarding the death of Pope John Paul and gives a good behind the scenes account according to some *reliable sources.*

"The Atlantic Monthly" seems to be the same publication where Thoreau and Emerson published:

Here is one link which mentions some issues from the 19th century.

I was reading some of Thoreau's writings the other day, and he mentioned "The Atlantic".

I was reading Thoreau's "A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers" and it reminded me of Hemingway's short story "Big Two-Hearted River", one of his Nick Adam's stories. Both are so relaxing to read. I wonder if Hemingway was influenced at all by Thoreau.

Thanks for the links, will do some good reading. Undoubtedly, The Atlantic is one of the more intrepid publications out there with a rich history.
