The Hero's Path III

DeathScape

New Member
A long, long time ago, even before The Great Depression, before Columbus found America, before Jesus stepped foot onto earth, and even before dinosaurs existed. There were three big towns. They were called Saradomin, Guthix, and Zamorak. Saradomin and Guthix were good friends, but Zamorak was a different story…
Zamarak would always do terrible things to Saradomin and Guthix, but they couldn’t blame the terrible things that happened to them on Zamarak because there was no proof. Zamarak was fall of a lot of hateful people, too, the town was just horrible. Very few would stop to help others.
One day Zamarak went too far. They did something so horrible that is started one of the biggest wars ever, even bigger than World War II…

Let me explain the magic in this world. Wind is the worst element, water is the second worst element, earth is the second best element, and fire is the best element. Here are the normal spells:
Wind Wave, Water Wave, Earth Wave, Fire Wave, Wind Bolt, Water Bolt, Earth Bolt, Fire Bolt, Wind Blast, Water Blast, Earth Blast, Fire Blast, Wind Strike, Water Strike, Earth Strike, and Fire Strike. All of those are in order from worst to best, but of course there are more spells, but those are the sixteen basic spells.
You must have enough runes for each spell. Let’s say if I wanted to use Fire Blast, I would need seven fire runes, five air runes, and one blood rune. Some runes are rarer than others. Air, water, earth, and fire runes are the four basic runes. Then there are the ones used for spells. Mind runes are used for Wave spells, Chaos runes are used for Bolt spells, Death runes are used for Blast spells, and Blood runes are used for Strike spells. There are more than eight runes, but those are used for other spells, like alchemy.
You must be a wizard to access the Strike spells. If you’re a mage, you can’t use them.

Josh was a nice young man who was willing to do anything for Saradomin or Guthix. He was also the strongest person ever. His best friend, Fletcher, was a pretty good ranger, and he was always willing to help Josh on his adventures. Whether it was a giant dragon that needed to be slayed, or just a tiny rat that needed to be extinguished, Fletcher would always help Josh. Alex was the second best fighter ever, but he was a mean man who wanted to be the best. He tried to be the best at everything. He practiced fighting every day, but he never became better than Josh. He actually hated Josh.
And the three of them all lived in Saradomin. Josh of course lived in a big castle because he was such a great fighter, but the others were fine with what they had. Josh not only had the best skills at fighting, the best house, the favoritism of the King, but he always had an incredible girlfriend named Jane.
Jane had long blonde hair, hazel eyes, and a nice white dress she always wore. If Josh ever lost her, he wouldn’t be able to carry on. He couldn’t spend a second without her, so that’s why he decided to marry her. She was captured, and Josh saved her, but Alex betrayed him, and killed them both, well, at least Jane. Josh survived, but was pretty hurt.
At first, Josh, Fletcher, and Alex had to get a sapphire, an emerald, a ruby, a diamond, and a pearl to open a door to where Jane was, or get the key that King Syon had. Even though Josh and Alex hated each other, near the end of their journey, Josh sort of liked Alex, and he thought Alex liked him, but he was obviously wrong. Like I said before, Alex betrayed him, and tried to kill Josh and Jane.
Alex took credit for the whole journey, and said Josh just died in combat. Alex was a big deal to Saradomin after that. Alex was going to be king when King Samuel died, but Alex couldn’t wait that long, he had to be king now. So instead of waiting, he just killed the king! It was a horrible thing, and of course Alex didn’t tell anyone he had killed the king.
The following day, Josh and Fletcher arrived and told the story of what Alex had done. Alex ran, and Josh and Fletcher followed him. Fletcher ended up being killed by Alex, and Josh was shot in the back.
Alex later on joined Zamarak, but died from Josh. Josh had several fights, and made some new friends, such as Mark and Nick. And in the end, Zamarak had to fight Saradomin, but Josh and Nick didn’t; they rebelled. The whole city did, too, except the king of Zamarak, King Zathuria. King Daniel, the king of Samuel agreed with the peace suggestion, and they called it after Josh; Joshua Sython Zammington. The town was called Zammington.
King Zathuria left, but no one bothered to kill him, but he swore, he swore that he would get revenge. Most people didn’t believe it. And this is where the story begins…

Three years have passed since Saradomin and Zamarak became friends. It was fine at first, but then the town became hateful. No one liked each other, and the former Saradomin houses were next to former Saradomin houses, and former Zamarak houses were next to former Zamarak houses. Josh was some where near the middle of the town, talking to Nick.
“So do you want to go fishing?” Josh question Nick.
“No,” Nick responded.
“Do you want to go fencing?” Josh asked Nick.
“No,” Nick replied.
“Do you want to go help fellow citizens?” Josh questioned Nick for the third time.
“You know Josh, I don’t want to do anything,” Nick said. “I just want to stay out of your sight.”
Josh couldn’t believe those words Nick had just said. “I am the king,” Josh said. “I could have you executed for that remark,” Josh finished.
“Go ahead,” Nick responded.
Josh was furious. Nick was a total bore now. He figured he’d check out what Mark was doing, but he could never find him.
“Hey!” a voice behind Josh exclaimed.
Josh turned around, but saw no one. That was strange, Josh thought.
“Boy!” shouted someone.
Josh immediately turned around, but saw no one. Josh paid no attention to it, and went searching for Mark. Mark would want to have some fun.
Josh still couldn’t find Mark after several minutes and now he was completely bored. He searched just about the whole castle. He didn’t stop searching for him, but he wasn’t really searching for him. He was more of walking around and doing nothing, hoping to find Mark.
“Boy!” the voice shouted again.
Josh turned around to find, yet again, no one. “Who is calling me?” Josh called.
There was no answer.
Josh figured it was just a citizen that was looking for his or her son, but he could’ve sworn that the statement was directed to him.
“Hey… Boy… Hey!” This time, the voice said it in more of a whisper.
Josh decided to turn around because he had nothing better to do. But this time, he saw some old lady with a bow in her hand. She was actually shorter than Josh, but she looked really nice and pretty, even for her age!
“Boy!” she squealed.
“Yes?” Josh said.
“Boy!” the old lady screamed.
“What!?” Josh roared.
“Boy!” the old lady roared back.
Josh was now just vexed by this nonsense. He felt like stabbing her! But he was supposed to be some respectful warrior, so he politely said, “What is it that you want?”
“Boy!” she answered.
Was she suffering from some disease? Josh wondered. Okay, he thought, maybe should just slowly walk away…
“Boy!!!” she roared at the top of her lungs.
“What the **** is it!?” Josh responded in a brutal tone. Oh crap, Josh thought…
Josh had shouted so loud that the whole town could hear it. Josh knew he ruined his reputation.
“Josh!” a fellow town’s women said. “That is no way to speak to your elders!” she snapped.
“I’m terribly sorry,” Josh replied. “It won’t happen again… I swear.”
“It better not!” the women retorted.
Josh turned his head and faced the old hag. He opened his mouth and said, “What is it?”
“Bo-“
“She’s talking about you,” a ten year old boy interrupted. “She wants you to help her.” The boy was holding a bow in his right hand and was holding a dagger in his left hand. He looked like a peasant.
“What does she want?” Josh questioned.
“Someone stole her crack,” the boy responded.
Josh looked at him in a questionably face. He was oblivious that elders smoked crack.
“I’m kidding!” the boy exclaimed with a laugh. “She wants you to hunt down some thieves. They stole her food, and my food as well, and we have nothing else! That’s all we had, and now it’s gone!” The boy looked as though he was about to cry, but he held it back.
“Well, I’ll give you some of my food, and then I’ll look for the thieves when I can,” Josh replied with a smile.
“Thank you, mister,” the boy said.
“You’re wel-“ Something caught Josh’s eye. There was destruction in the sky. He saw people on dragons coming this way! And then he could see many men marching towards them. Josh knew this was not good. “Attack!” Josh roared. “We’re under attack!”
Josh ran outside the castle to fight, but there were very few men ready to fight. Josh was very afraid once he saw the sky turn red, but he couldn’t show fear.
“Josh!” a man shouted.
Josh turned his head.
“Look ou-“
It was too late; Josh was shot in the arm. And if that wasn’t bad enough, a dragon with a warrior riding him approached him. The dragon soared towards Josh, but the dragon didn’t knock him down, instead, a man jumped into midair and kick Josh in the face, forcing him to the ground, while the dragon went off into a different direction.
“Hello, Josh!” the man said, congenially.
Josh moaned.
“Nice day, isn’t it?” the man said.
Josh wasn’t paying attention; he had so much pain in his body.
The man was walking around him, waiting for something to happen. Suddenly, he kicked Josh.
“Awww!” Josh squealed.
The man repeatedly kicked him until there was blood covering his whole body.
“Stu-Stop!” Josh yelled. “Please!”
The man stopped. “Do you know who I am?” he asked. He waited for an answer, but there was none, so he said, “I am King Zathuria!”
Josh stopped squealing and stopped grabbing his leg. His pupils grew as he realized he could’ve stopped this whole thing from happening.
“That’s right, I am your former enemy,” the man known as King Zathuria said. “I’ll pull back today, and I’ll give you ‘til tomorrow at 5:00 in the afternoon to organize your strategy, but mark my words; you will perish!” And with that said, King Zathuria pulled his army back.
Josh knew Zammington needed help… Big help.

“Mark! Mark! Mark!” Josh called out the next day. He hadn’t seen him in such a long time, and the town was going chaotic after Zamarak arrived. Josh tried to calm people down, but it was no use. Josh decided to speak to King Samuel, and stop searching for Mark.
“Your highness,” Josh said to King Samuel once he arrived at the castle.
“Yes, Josh?” King Samuel responded.
“I know that we are in endanger, thus bringing us to the point of the end of our town-“
“Are town will never die, for it will live in our hearts forever,” King Samuel interrupted.
“Yes, but we need to admit these things sometimes,” Josh pointed out.
“I know, I know, but what can we do?” King Samuel asked Josh.
“I got just the plan,” Josh announced. “But we will lose hundreds of men.
“Hmmm… Go on,” King Samuel told Josh.
“Alright, we know that if we abandoned the town, they will come looking for us, but if we just lay a couple of men out on the battle field, like we’re really going to fight, then they might believe that they have conquered us when they defeat those few hundred men,” Josh finished.
“Interesting… But I will sacrifice myself as well,” King Samuel announced.
“No, you’re like a father to me, if I lost you, I don’t know what I would do,” Josh proclaimed.
“Times are tough… I’m sorry Josh, but I must,” King Samuel insisted.
“If that’s what you want… Then I guess I have to respect that…” Josh said, sadly looking down at the ground of the castle floor.
“I’m sure you will be fine… being the new king,” King Samuel said, smiling.
Even though Josh knew he would be king after King Samuel died, he still acted surprised. “What!? You can’t be serious!? Me!?”
“Yes, you. I have faith in you. Good luck,” King Samuel told Josh.
“Alright, well, let’s announce this decision to the town,” Josh insisted.
“That would be splendid,” King Samuel said.
So the two men went outside to the town the devastating news. King Samuel and Josh asked for volunteers to sacrifice their life, and Nick, said he would.
Josh went down into the crowd and spoke to Nick, “No, dude, I won’t let you.”
“There’s nothing left for me… I’m so lost, I’m barely here, I wish I could explain myself, but the words escaped me, it’s too late… to save me… You’re too late, you’re too late,” Nick sang in song.
“That would make a great song some day… See, you have lots of talent, and you just want to throw it all away?” Josh questioned, but he knew the answer.
“Basically, yeah,” Nick responded.
Okay, so Josh didn’t know the answer, but still, Josh felt hurt, like he lost a friend. A friend that didn’t want to live anymore… He had to show him the good moments they used to have…
“I’m doing it Josh, whether you like it or not,” Nick told Josh.
“Well, okay,” Josh replied.
“See you… Wait, I guess I won’t,” Nick announced.
Okay, so reverse psychology wasn’t going to work, but there had to be something he could do.
“I gotta go get ready,” Nick told Josh.
Josh grabbed his arm. “Please, please… don’t go… I need you… Don’t go…” Josh begged.
“Alright, I guess I won’t throw my life down here, but I will someday, and when that day comes, you have to respect that,” Nick said.
“Okay, I will,” Josh lied.
After a couple of minutes… It was finally time for them to get ready. The men stood in the front, pretending to be an army, but of course were going to be outnumbered. Josh and the others took one last look at them, and left the town… Forever… They ventured off into the plains to search for a new kingdom… And to rebuild…
Josh was the new king, so obviously he ordered people around, but after awhile, he thought he was a pathetic excuse for a king, and hoped that something would pop up so that he didn’t look like a complete idiot by just wandering around the whole damn world.
“Josh… I don’t mean to intrude, but-“
“Ahhh!” someone screamed. “Ahhh!”
Josh and the others looked for where the voice was coming from.
The voice was some man being chased by about twenty knights. The knights only had swords, though. He kept running until he came across two trees that were facing the opposite way of each other, while running, he jumped into the air and landed on two branches that were also facing the opposite direction of each other. His left foot was on the left branch, and the right foot was on the right branch obviously.
The man took out his bow and shot all twenty knights simply, and he hit them all in the heart.
He’s a pure shooter! Josh thought. He’d be great for this town! Josh decided to confront the man. “You, sir, where do you live?” Josh asked.
“Live? Earth,” the man replied.
“No, what town is what I really mean. Sorry, I guess I need to be more specific,” Josh corrected.
“No where, the grassy plains I guess,” the man responded.
“Then I guess you wouldn’t mind joining us…? Is that right?”
“I don’t know… I guess I wouldn’t mind, but how much do I get paid?” the man asked.
“No-“
“I’m just kidding ya!” the man said, slapping Josh on the back.
“Alright then, let’s go,” Josh insisted. Josh thought this man would be grand in every kind of way…
“By the way, the name’s Roy,” the man named Roy announced.
“Charmed, my name is King Joshua Sython Zammington of Zammington,” Josh announced as well.
Roy bowed his head.
“Alright, then I supposed it’s best that we continue,” Josh decided.
“Continue what exactly?” Roy questioned, as he scratched his head.
“Find a new… A new place, a new town, a new land, a new over-“
“Whoa, dude, I didn’t ask for your life story,” Roy interrupted.
“Okay, we are basically trying to find a new town where we can be free from… Zamarak…” Josh said.
“You mean Iban,” Nick corrected.
“Yes, Iban…” Josh said.
“Iban? Sounds like a pretty crappy town to me where people just hump cows all day and pretend to be happy,” Roy proclaimed seriously.
Josh scratched his head and then said, “You’re not from around here, are you?”
“Have you ever been to… Hell?” Roy questioned.
“I thought I was once,” Josh answered.
“Okay, never mind… I’ll explain later, let’s just build this new colony thing! Okay!” Roy exclaimed.
“Okay…” Josh stated.
Everyone stood there for a second. They were all confused and wasn’t sure what to do. They all waited for one person to do something so that they would later on act what they were doing, but no one did anything.
“So… What the hell are we doing?” Roy asked, demanding for an answer.
“Rome wasn’t built in one day, ya know!” Josh said, smiling. He turned and looked at Roy who had straight face on, so he continued. “Well… Let’s build this kingdom! Is anyone here good at crafts?”
“I am!” the same boy from before answered. He approached Josh and it seemed as though, he remembered what had happened earlier. He closed one eye stupidly, trying to avoid the sun. He opened his mouth and then closed it. He thought of something to say and then shout out random words. “I, uhhh… I took Art lessons and we built a bunch of crap, and I’m sure everyone else has as well!” The boy sighed with relief when he noticed that what he said came out good.
“Alright then… Let’s get this show on the road!” Josh exclaimed.

Another three years passed and the kingdom was magnificent for something that was built in three years. It was finally time to settle down, and discuss political things, such as who should be crowned as the next king after Josh’s time was over.
Everyone else was doing just fine, but everyone was also oblivious to the outside of the castle’s walls. No one really worried about things as much as they used to. The town was awesome and Josh was never happier. But Josh lost some of his talent, as well as all the other warriors. They all had not fought in such a long time because they thought they would never need it… They thought wrong.
Josh was walking around, waving to civilians and that’s when chaos struck. A rock on fire, known as a fireball, struck a watchtower and it came crashing down onto civilians. Josh had not assembled an army. He knew he should’ve down that before he made a new town, but he thought no one would find out about his small town, known as Zammington of course.
Josh was struggling in combat, and no one else had weapons to fight with. Josh was still pretty good, but he was nothing he was three years ago. He felt the deepest rue he had every felt before… He wondered why he didn’t practice fighting for such a long time, but he couldn’t think about that now, he had to get his head in the war.
Josh slashed his sword at a man’s body, cutting it open, and then sliced his sword and man’s neck, cutting it open, as well as having his blood squirt out. Josh was covered in blood after awhile. A man came charging at him with a shield in front of him. Josh stuck his sword through the shield and the sword was hooked onto it. Josh swung his sword that was attached to the enemy’s shield, at another enemy. Josh eventually took the sword out of the shield and sliced a man’s neck with the shield and then dropped it and went off to fighting more men.
“Awww!” a voice screamed.
Josh could see that the voice that screamed was that same little boy that said he was good at crafts… Except now, he seemed like a young man… Some where around twelve and fourteen. He had to help the young boy or his life would be taken. He ran into the crowd, holding his shield out and slashing everyone who was in his way. He stood by the boy and fought every enemy that approached him.
About one hundred enemies came towards Josh and the boy. Josh couldn’t take one hundred warriors on at a time! But suddenly, all one hundred were killed in a matter of seconds, all from arrows, and all were hits in the heads, and all died in one hit…
“Damn!” Roy said from a tree. He jumped down and then finished by saying, “I just wasted one hundred arrows!” he said, smiling.
“I never knew you were such an amazing figh… warrior,” Josh said.
“I wouldn’t call that even close to great,” Roy stated, hammering his sword on the ground.
“Me neither,” Josh said quickly after Roy.
There was a pause.
“Watch out!” Roy said as he slashed a man’s head off that was charging towards Josh.
Josh had only seen the red blood gush into the air and on Josh’s new shirt.
“Hey, let’s go take out some of those dragons!” Roy said, thinking it was a normal thing. He patted Josh’s back and then ran off to fight the dragons.
Josh just stood and watched Roy’s exhilarating performance. Roy smirked as he saw Josh eying him. Josh waved as he saw a dragon approach Roy. Roy cut the dragon’s head off and then jumped on the dragon’s body, and ripped the man right off his seat, and then threw him into a tree, causing him to bleed and die. Another dragon approached Roy, but this one was spitting fire at him. Roy was near a cliff and the dragon was in the air, over the cliff and the next part of land was hundred’s of miles away. Luckily, this dragon was only about fifteen feet away in the air. Josh couldn’t believe it, but Roy jumped onto the dragon, and pushed the man on the dragon off the cliff! He then stabbed the dragon while he was on top of it, and then ran on his head and jumped back onto the cliff as the dragon feel to the ground that was also over one hundred miles deep.
“Wow!” Josh whispered to himself.
Roy turned to look at Josh. Josh quickly tried to look unsurprised by his performance, and let out a big, fake yawn that made Roy feel a little bit vexed. So this time Roy went out and gave it his all. There was another dragon about seventeen feet away from the cliff, spitting fire at him. Roy saw the stone wall next to him and saw that it expanded into a long distance. He set his feet, and then jumped fifteen feet into the air, and then kicked off the stone wall to land on the dragon which was another two feet away. Roy confronted the man. The man took out a sword and slashed at Roy. Roy went near the end of the dragon. When the man slashed at Roy again, Roy grabbed his sword and moved it towards the edge of the dragon, forcing the man to almost fall off the dragon, but Roy didn’t drop the sword. He just left the man dangling there… in midair.
“No, please, stop!” the man pleaded.
“I don’t think so,” Roy said.
The man opened his mouth to yelp as Roy let go of the sword, and let the man fall to his doom.
Roy was still on the dragon, though. He drove it into the stone wall, two feet away from the cliff edge, and then jumped off as fifteen stones fell on the dragon as he clobbered to the ground and died. Roy took a look back and then confronted Josh. “Why didn’t you help me out there!?”
“Oh… I was testing to see if you were worthy enough to be part of this nation… Good job, you almost proved yourself,” Josh lied.
“Almost!?” Roy yelped.
“Yes… Almost… I’ll see the rest of your performance, and then decipher whether or not you are worth enough to be part of this town…” Josh lied yet again.
“Okay, I understand,” Roy said.
“Good!” Josh accorded.
With that, Roy left, fighting other enemies and other mythical creatures, such as Hell Hounds, Dragons, Demons, Ice and Fire Warriors, and other creatures like that.
Josh just stayed at real men, as well as everyone else, which meant that Roy would have to take out all the mythical creatures which would be hard.
“Retreated!!!” a voice hollered.
And with that, all the enemies left the disastrous town. Josh threw a rock at one while they were leaving, and it hit him in the head, causing him to die.
Mark confronted Josh and said, “You did good!” And then he turned to Roy and said, “You did great! You are the best figh… warrior I’ve ever seen in my life!” He turned to Josh who seemed disgruntled and then said, “But of course… Josh is a little bit better.”
“Of course... He’s all you guys talk about,” Roy added, who seemed to be agitated.
“Well, we might as well go discuss this with those other boring, political figures,” Mark decided.
“Indeed,” Josh accorded.
Roy followed Josh as though he was one of the political groups, but Josh stopped as he saw Roy following him.
“What are you doing?” Josh questioned Roy.
“I’m going to the… the…”
Josh laughed. “You don’t even know where we’re going! I’m sorry, but this is a political discussion and we don’t need misfits like you lurking around us.”
Roy stopped dead in his tracks as he watched Josh go into the humungous castle. Josh went through a couple of doors before he finally reached his destination.

“Good evening to you, Joshua,” a political advisor greeted, smiling.
“… And to you as well,” Josh decided to say, though, he didn’t even know his name!
They waited for several minutes for the other political people to arrive, and once they did, the discussion began.
Josh, being their king and all, should’ve said something, but since he didn’t, George went right ahead. “Okay, let’s check how many people showed up.” George counted for a second and then said, “Ahhh, only seven out of the ten political members showed up,” George announced.
Josh was bored and noticed that Mark was there… He never knew that Mark had become a political member… Was he drunk when he had assigned him or something? Mark seemed to just be playing with his fingers and counting how many he had, but he only came up with seven for some reason.
“Mark!” George scolded. “This is not the time to be playing with un-political things!”
“Okay,” Mark said, standing up. “I’m gonna go take a shit,” he announced.
“… Go ahead,” George approved.
The discussion went on and on for hours between the five men real political men, but Josh and Mark just seemed flat out bored.
“Well, Josh, what do you think about this situation?” George asked Josh.
“Hmmm?” Josh questioned George.
“The situation at hand! The attack of Iban! For God’s sakes, you could atleast pretend you are listening!” George roared in a violent tone.
“I am listening, damn it!” Josh yelled back. “Who gives a damn about this discussion! Let’s just go kick their ass! You guys don’t even fight!”
“Hey!” Mark exclaimed.
“… Besides Mark,” Josh corrected.
“Thank you!” Mark thanked Josh.
“Well… It seems like you don’t give a “damn” about our town indeed,” George announced.
“Listen,” Josh said in a more calm tone. “I’m just saying that there is nothing to really discuss. Let’s go and bomb their town and make them suffer!”
“Yeah! Damn right!” Mark exclaimed in accord.
“It’s not that simple Josh,” George said in a more calm tone as well. “We… We need to discuss this and I advice you to take your seat.”
Josh sat down slowly and waited for what seemed like a million hours before he was finally dismissed with the so called “plan.”

The warriors were all lined up and in battle formation for the attack… Yes, they figured out that Iban would attack the following day at 1:00 in the morning.
“Oh crap!” Mark whispered to Josh. “I forgot to have lunch!!!”
“I’ll buy you McWonalds afterwards… That is if you survive,” Josh said, laughing.
Mark faked laugh as well, but was a little bit scared now that he had mentioned the word “death” into the conversation… Josh may have not directly said it, but he was indicating it.
From a distance, everyone could see Iban marching towards them.
“We are not going to attack!” King Zathuria announced. “I just want you Joshua Sython Zammington… Yes, that’s right… I’m calling you out.”
The Iban warriors and the Zammington warriors were about thirty feet away from each other. Josh and Zathuria walked about five feet in front of their towns.
“Skip the damn pun, let’s fight!” King Zathuria exclaimed with his sword out.
Josh took his sword out as well and said, “I agree, let’s fight!”
The two ran towards each other and slashed swords at each other. They both backed away for a second, and then Josh took a swing at King Zathuria’s legs, but unfortunately, King Zathuria jumped struck Josh’s arm. It bled like and hurt like heck! But Josh knew he couldn’t show a sign of weakness or he’d be dead within the next couple of seconds. Josh then took out his arrow and shot at King Zathuria. King Zathuria blocked every shot, but then Josh threw his boomerang at him, which did a little damage to his neck. They were now both bleeding.
“Yeah! Woo-hoo! Kick ass, Josh!” Mark cheered.
Josh turned at Mark and grinned, and that’s when King Zathuria charged at Josh. Josh moved and grabbed a hold of King Zathuria’s sword and said, “No, no, no. That’s called cheating.” And with that, Josh- Still holding King Zathuria’s sword- took out his own sword and stabbed King Zathuria in the back.
King Zathuria was now on the ground bleeding as Josh took his sword out of him and let him fall to the ground. Josh approached King Zathuria for the final blow, but King Zathuria then said something. “My su- My su- My son… All I want is my son… Then I will leave your city in peace.”
Son? Josh thought. What the heck was he talking about? Josh wondered. He had a son? Josh looked at the crowd and then at King Zathuria and said, “What son?”
King Zathuria pointed his shaking finger at the boy who had said he was good at crafts. “Him.”
“What!?” Josh screamed..
“Him,” King Zathuria repeated. “He is my… my… my… my son!”
The crowd gasped.
“Ummm… Parden my language, but what in the hell are you talking about?”
“It’s a long story that I’m too weak to explain,” King Zathuria stated.
“Just tell me it,” Josh demanded.
“Alright,” King Zathuria said.
There was a long pause and King Zathuria didn’t speak for awhile.
“I… I…” King Zathuria collapsed into an odd position and died.
Everyone turned at either the boy or Josh to see what their next move was. The boy didn’t know what the heck he should do next.
“… He is not his son…” Nick declared, who had not spoken in awhile.
The crowd turned to Nick.
“I am his son…” Nick stated. It’s a long and complicated story, but that’s why I’ve been such… well, a dick to you Josh. I’m sorry man, but I couldn’t kill my own father.”
Josh blinked and then said, “He’s not your father.”
“What? Bull shit!” Nick argued.
“No, I’m serious. You are both about the same age, so that is physically impossible,” Josh declared.
“Just shut up right now, Josh,” Nick demanded.
“What?” Josh said. “Why are you doing this? Why are you lying? What is this going to do for you? What are you hiding and why are you so cryptic all of a sudden?” Josh questioned Nick, who seemed to sweat a little.
“Shut up!” Nick roared at Josh.
“Ni-“
“Just shut up! Shut up! Shut up!!!” Nick repeated, roaring at the top of his lungs.
“Nick! Calm the heck down! We aren’t doing anything to you!!!” Josh yelled.
“Shut up! Do you know how Fletcher survived that over one hundred foot fall?” Nick asked Josh.
“Well… No,” Josh admitted.
“See, you are clueless! You don’t know anything! But I’ll tell you… I’ll tell you the whole story… And I’m not your ally or your friend… I’m a spy!” Nick admitted.
“What!?” Josh exclaimed.
“Yes, that’s right, Joshua…” Nick said. “I’ll tell you everything from square one! Square one! My name isn’t really Nick, it’s-“
Fling!
In a matter of seconds, an arrow was in Nick’s head. No one knew who shot, but they knew that someone didn’t want Nick to reveal the truth… Whatever it was anyways.
“Oh my… gosh…” Mark said quietly to himself. “Nick’s a crazy psychopath!”
The king who would take King Zathuria’s place stepped five feet in front of his army and said, “Listen, we want peace now. Nothing is worth fighting… Our king is dead, and it’s not your fault… We thank you for your lesson and we hope to help you in anyway we can,” the new king said.
“Thank you…?” Josh said.
“I’m the new king. It’s King Thomas,” the new king, who was named King Thomas, said.
“Oh, okay. We thank you, King Thomas,” Josh said.
“Much gratitude… Let us go… Come on troops… Move out!” King Thomas yelled.
The Zammington troops waved good bye to the Iban troops as they walked away.
“I guess we can go back to the castle now,” Josh announced, sighing.
“Boy!” a voice exclaimed as Josh was walking back to the castle.
“Boy…” the boy who said he was good at crafts said. “She means you…”
“What is your name?” Josh asked.
“It’s… Soren…” the boy named Soren said.
“Okay, will you please explain what the he… heck is going on?” Josh demanded.
“Alright, alright… This will shock you a little bit, but please… don’t go insane and kill everyone…” Soren said.
“I promise,” Josh promised, smiling.
“King Zathuria and Jane… Your old girlfriend hooked up at one point… They sort of got busy and had… a kid… Me… I’m their son…” Soren admitted.
“What!?!?!?” Josh roared at the top of his lungs.
“I thought you said you wouldn’t go insane!” the boy said, laughing.
“Sorry… I was just a little shocked… Go on…” Josh apologized.
“Okay, so they had me, but then they got into a quarrel and Jane joined Saradomin to get away from him… That’s why Zamarak attacked Saradomin… King Sython wanted to help King Zathruia get his “gal” back, so he attacked Saradomin…” Soren said.
“Oh… I see…” Josh said.
“This part is going to be really hard to say, but I must say it… Jane… The only reason she hooked up with you was for a… a… a strong body guard…” Soren admitted. “I’m really, really, really sorry, Josh…” Soren then realized something. “Oh crap… My mom was a slut.”
“Don’t you dare call her that… I just can’t believe she would do that to me, but she is far from the vigorous words you just said… She was a kind and gentle women who, well, made a mistake,” Josh said.
“What? You’re calling me a mistake?” Soren asked.
“No… Well… Yes, but still… You can see what I mean…” Josh said. He wanted to ask more questions, so he just said, “What about Nick? What was he talking about being a spy and crap like that? And how did Fletcher survive that long fall?” Josh wondered, who was really oblivious to all of this.
“I don’t really know anything about them… I’m sorry, but I think you might have a better chance with my guardian,” Soren proclaimed.
“Boy!” the old lady screamed.
Oh God, Josh thought. Here we go again. “You know what… I think I’m better off not knowing all this information, but thank you very much for informing me on these matters… I’m really… I’m just going to take a walk now, okay?”
“Okay,” Soren said.
Josh walked away, sad and confused, wondering about almost everything. He had only about two real friends left… And Roy wasn’t really his friend… And that brought up another matter; Roy was better than Josh at fighting, and Josh knew that, but he didn’t want people to think Roy was actually better… Josh had a lot of thinking to do, and a lot of political discussions to attend… But the good news was that Iban wasn’t going to attack them anymore, so they could leave in peace and harmony… Everyone was happy… Well, everyone except Josh that is.
