I'm not sure how many of you are interested in modern Irish History, but this book has been mentioned in the media quite a bit recently. Basically, in late 1969 and early 1970, there was a split in the IRA. The provisonal IRA split away from the movement. Now the PIRA (as they are known) got most of the coverage during the period known as the Troubles, but no one (until recently) knew what was going on with the ''Officials''.

This book tells the story of the Official IRA (OIRA) and it's political wing, the Workers Party, which a marxist movement. The scandalous thing about it is that it proves beyond reasonable doubt that many top Labour Party politicians in this country were members of the Worker's Party, and may have known about it's paramilitary wing, known as Group B (the OIRA had been declared a terrorist organisation, and could not be named on official party documents).

So yes, it's a very interesting book. If you've got any interest at all in modern Irish history, it's a must read. =)
