My World
Glass.
It shimmers
Like the sun on a stream.
I look down below
And watch my city gleam.
In the palm of my hand
Are the world and its people
And I’m up here
In my castle
Or steeple.
I have all my money.
I have all my fame.
I have all its luxuries
But they’re just
The same.
Because I may have the world
In the palm
Of
My hand.
I may have money
(About a million grand).
I may have all the worship
And most people’s creed
But
My happiness
And satisfaction
Are not agreed.
Because I have paid assassins
To kill all these men
To start war
To cause pain
And to do it again.
I have destroyed many
With a gun
And a tank
All for good cash
To rest
In
My bank.
But really,
It’s nothing
Just paper and
Metal.
Nothing for which
I would now want
To settle.
Because realisation
Has struck
Quick and
Far.
My world is not my world.
I have made it
A scar.
