When I was little, a neighbor had an interesting picture book about various "men of action", including pilots, race car drivers, explorers and others of that ilk. It was basically a "graphic reference book", composed entirely of black-and-white sketches and corresponding descriptions (there were no photos). Each person had their life described in about 2 pages. It seemed to be an older book - I got the impression it was from the '40s. I cannot remember any one specific individual, but one particular drawing sticks out: that of a boy jumping from a roof holding a large umbrella. The book did not seem very large (maybe a foot high by 7 inches wide) and was not too thick.
