What would you recommend for a christmas present?

Hey there,

Each year I have a nightmare trying to find a Christmas present for some of my work colleagues. We have a £10 limit so books are perfect. Can anyone recommend something? The best one I have found so far is: "Where do all the paperclips go?". It is entertaining and has some great business facts and insights and I could give it to anyone.

Having said that other ideas would be appreciated......

Change your job...:D No more 'nightmare'. And you'd be ££££ better off!

You must love your colleagues. I get on fine with the people I work with, but I have no desire whatsoever to socialise with them outside work, let alone buy 'em Christmas presents. Maybe I'm antisocial. I don't care :)

I often look at iwantoneofthose.com for work xmas presents. Its full of random stuff on there, I work in an office, and it does quite a good range of "fun" work stuff!

Does it have to be office-related? I'm guessing they have lives outside of work, why not just buy them an ordinary book?

How about a gift card? Or taking them out to eat?

If you have a quasi-impersonal relationship with your work colleagues, then don't worry about finding them the perfect Christmas gift. Just give them a quasi-impersonal gift and cross that chore off your list. Christmas should be more about your enjoyment and less about worry and stress.

Gift certificates always fit but if you want to buy a book, then I would get one with as much mass appeal as possible.

If I was going to get a book for a coworker, I'd buy one of Anthony Bourdain's books. They're easy, fun reads and have a wide appeal. Of course you can never go wrong with a Calvin & Hobbes or The Far Side anthology either.

Any of the Bathroom Reader series I find to be perfect. I've given these many times and they're always a huge hit (of course, I work with teachers who like to read).
