Why Do We Love to Read?

However, I'm sure you have some friends who don't read at all, or at least not frivolous things like novels. A quantity of my friends tell me that they only have time to read practical books to advance their careers or make them better parents. And they kind of look at each other comic. (P.S. I admire their devotion to duty.)

I know, I do know for a quantity of you, the query is pointless. They read because it's necessary, like eating and breathing.

Let's come out and admit that escape has something to do with it. Even in the event you have a great life, sometimes it's lovely to inhabit another. And if you're going through a bad time, well, let's say I went through a spell where I was reading mystery novels on my day off.

But for those of us who , love to read why is that?

I've also heard it suggested that reading is a kind of meditation. They can definitely find inspiration in reading. And let me say that I have learned lots of what I do know about history, culture, and criminal inquiry by reading fiction.

And then there's the vicarious experience aspect. A book takes away our time and space limitations. They can visit the past or the future, travel to an exotic locale, or imagine what it is to be an athlete or a soldier or a monk.

But I think the most important reason I read is for meaning. I think that when an author writes a book, they or they does it because they need to say that there is something significant about how people live in the world. And they can learn from that. In a world that often seems random, it's fabulous to have recourse to the world of books.

What is the a with the circumflex above it and the two little squares next to it mean? I love to read, it's relaxing although a good thriller can un-relax me but it's fun. Can't imagine what I'd do without books. :)

If it wasn't for the computer I would read more, thus I never take my laptop on holidays :) But coming back to the main question, you read because you use your own imagination that creates the image of the story. While reading, you just become isoletated and follow the story, fall in love with the characters and hope that a sequel will come up soon:)

To me, it's like a really long movie. Friends that I get to know throughout the years. Learning terminology, history, FACTS... I Like that.

I love to read the books which are knowledgeable and very informative.i think everybody should make habit for reading the books daily whether its a novel or magazine etc.Because of reading you got an useful information and knowledge from it.your knowledge level will increase.and also you aware of world activity.so keep reading daily.

I read b/c it's fun.
You get to use your imagination to bring the characters to life within your mind.
Sometimes you can learn things about life by how the story pans out, realistic or not.

I won't deny that escapism is part of the reason why I read, but it's not the main reason.

First of all, I like to know things. Not necessarily facts, but just what different places are like, or can be like in the minds of authors. I also like to read how characters react to the situations they find themselves in, and I always compare to how I think I would react. I like the possibilities reading gives you, and the many different ways things can go.

It's also very much an instinct, and it always has been. I remember enough times when I'm reading the ingredients and such on cereal boxes over breakfast when having nothing to read. It's something I can't not do. As the OP said, it's like eating and breathing. It's also a habit I like.

Of course, it's also escapism, but as I said, not the main reason.

I read because I love it!

I have always loved reading even as a young child. I remember LEARNING to read faster because I got tired of asking my older brothers and sisters to read to me.

So I guess I don't know?
Just Like a PP stated, it's like breathing, I can't help it.
