From the list below, which novels rank high on your list and which rank low?

  • The Five People You Met in Heaven by Mitch Albom
  • Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke
  • Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson
  • The Accidental Tourist by Anne Tyler
  • False Impression by Jeffrey Archer
  • Skinny Dip by Carl Hiaasen
  • Evidence of Things Unseen by Marianne Wiggin
  • Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates
  • The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
  • Out by Natsuo Kirino
  • The Forge of God by Greg Bear
  • The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck
  • Birdy by William Wharton
  • Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
  • The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood
  • Palindrome Hannah by Michael Bailey
  • The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
  • Gorgeous Lies by Martha McPhee
  • A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore

I have only read The Good Earth in that list of titles so I can say for sure that it would rank highest at the moment. Hehe.

I have only read a few of those titles but I rank Never Let Me Go, Revolutionary Road and The Picture Of Dorian Gray to be top!

I didn't really enjoy The Five People You Meet n Heaven, so i'd rank that pretty low.

Also Out has grabbed my attention and is waiting on my shelf to be read, I might be ranking that later . . .

I very much enjoyed The Five People You Meet in Heaven, but all the rest I have no curiosity about. Never Let me Go I would put at the bottom of my list, though, based on my browse of it and the discussion here. Just not interested.

I've only read a few of them such as The Good Earth, and The Picture of Dorian Gray but it was sooo many years ago, I probably could read them again practically fresh. But I remember really loving The Good Earth, I wonder if I'd be so enamoured now.......hmmm.

I have only read Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke and The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood. Both are worthy IMO, but I think The Blind Assassin may be worthier.

I'd rank Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell and The Blind Assassin high. Never Let Me Go was a good book, but didn't make much of an impact on me

How did you compile this list? Are these books you have read?

I only read The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and I think it was good...on a scale from 0 to 10 I'd give it a 7,5 ...
