Got an iPad, Is it a waste to get an ereader

??

I read books on my iPad all the time, I really want to get a Kindle Fire but my wife says its a waste of money since the iPad does the same thing, only better.

Am I just addicted to gadgets?

I don't have a Kindle Fire, but I got the Kindle Touch before we bought an Ipad. Honestly, don't fool with the Kindle unless carrying space is a premium. My husband took my Kindle on the Bike Across Kansas trip last summer, and enjoyed having plenty to read and access to emails in a compact form, but otherwise, the I pad is tons better.

I was considering looking at the Kindle Fire but decided that, as my reason for having a Kindle was purely for the reading aspect I decided not to bother as I don't believe that the reading side is as good as a dedicated Kindle designed just for reading. That's only my opinion and it depends on what you want to use it for.

I haven't used an iPad so I can't comment.

Stick with the iPad. It's not that much larger than a Kindle, I don't see how the size will make much difference. (This coming from a fellow gadget addict.)

Would you rather be tied to the Apple Apps Store or the Amazon Apps Store?

If you have paid Amazon Prime and watch a lot of TV and movies and have a good WiFi connection then the Fire isn't a bad idea.

Personally, I'd get the new Kindle Paperwhite 3G. Because eInk.

The Kindle Fire is a good cheap alternative to the iPad but as you already have an iPad... We are guys! We want gadgets!

i love my gadgets too.. have all the iThingies there is i think. :D but if i were you, i'd stick to the iPad. and it's more than just a reader..

The great feature of e-readers is the e-paper display (most of them have it). This is great for reading because it wont emit light, working as a paper. That way you will have a more comfortable reading. Also reading outside in a sunny day won't be a problem.

This is the only actual difference.

I myself don't have a tablet because almost any smart-phone will do everything I need from a tablet. But if I was to choose between a tablet and a e-paper e-reader I would keep the last one.
