Challenge: Write a Short Story in a Week

inspiration for anything at the moment seems to be on vacation. I just finished working a big project and my brain said 'toodles, holiday!'

the only reason i put the word count at 3k is that i think it's real, real hard to make any kind of decent story in less--matter of opinion, though.

There was a man who slipped often, but one time when he slipped he fell into the arms of his one and only beloved who just happened to be passing below the ladder he was on, their eyes met and a week later they were married, proving that walking under ladders isn't always bad luck.

You can make an entire story in one sentence if you try ;)

Gita, I think your story is excellent. It also made be smile because once many years ago I used to arrange the dressing table so that everything appeared symmetrical before I got into bed at night. One night I didn't know my husband was watching until he said "the talcum powder is too far to the right" - that stopped me in my tracks. :D

Thanks everyone.
I did not see the end clearly when I started writing the story but, as it sometimes happens, it wrote itself to a neat end!

Ok I know that this dose not start with, "Something’s not quite right, here" and it is not even close to being 3k. But no bright ideas were coming my way

A Day in the Life of a Cat
A cat's day is long and hard, not many people know how hard it is to be a cat. There are in fact many things that make a cat’s life hard. One of these things are the evil birds which torture one by flying above one's head and not flying themselves into one's mouth like good birds should. Then there is the hardship of being worshiped (this is one of the worst things to put up with). A normal day in the life of a cat starts with breakfast and a morning wash, (one has to look after oneself), then there is elevenses and the mid-morning nap (sleeping is in fact hard work). Around midday is when you have to go check that no Grass Monsters have invaded (if you do not know what a Grass Monster is they are a figment of almost every cat's imagination and are known to lurk in amongst the blades of grass). Once this important job is done one can climb a few trees and stalk some of the evil birds, (one never knows, they might one day see the error of their evil bird ways), then it is time for a early afternoon walk followed by light doze in a patch of sun, just a warm up for the late afternoon sleep, (this happens between four and five pm). Then it is inside for supper and a good night’s sleep to prepare for another day.

The End

No I have just been busy this past week or so ... so yeah we can bump it up ....

whatcha wanna do?

I've got a good idea .... how about writing the shortest story possible.

It has to have a full plot .... beginning, middle and end. At least 2 characters and be completed in the fewest possible words :)

Mmm..interesting, yes but not very challenging. Let's think of ways to make it a toughie :devillook
Summerflyte, you made quite a splash yesterday. How about setting the rules for a new challenge?
