Hannibal, I just read that line at work and I cracked up to a room full of people who now think I'm crazy. It was worth it though! I get the feeling you'd appreciate Monty Python sketches....
Oh and Martin the line about the beets is absolutely brilliant, reminds me of the fact that there...
Definitely, Waiting for Godot just astounded me it was such an excellent idea and when the final monologue kicks in it really brings the beauty of the play together.
I loved how Beckett insisted that Godot didn't mean anything. I'd like to know what he was like as a person, I always imagined...
I actually quite liked some of the books I read at school, although I'm with you there fluffy bunny, too much lit crit is exhausting and I don't know about you but I tend to get lost in deriving a meaning and forget the beauty of the work.
Here's a mixture of what I read at GCSE and A-Level...
I'm a big fan of Johnny Depp I thought he was fantastic in Donnie Brasco.
Haven't watched Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas but I have heard very good things about the book. Guess that'll be the next one to watch/read.
I like to eat lots of comfort food like chocolate cake or mash potato and listen to some music with of course a really engrossing book.
Jogging or something as mind numbing as the gym helps too, just so I can be lost in my own thoughts.
I love the lion faces idea, made me laugh just...
Watched the film last night, it was amazing! I loved all the parallels between the day to day legal addictions in life, like coffee and the same sort of ritual preparation.
I think you're right about the film as a book because I don't think it would've worked as well. Saying that I haven't...
Not sure if this will help, but Hanif Kureishi wrote a book called Intimacy, which I thought was very much about the 90's man, sort of disillusioned and misplaced. He has written many books that cover modern life including Love in a Blue Time. Hope that helps!
Some of the books definitely wouldn't make my list but I have read 34, probably because I was forced to read Dickens at school. Didn't put me off reading thankfully!
Especially the bit where she talks about a kiss being like sharing a little part of someone's soul. Gorgeous!
I have to say When Harry Met Sally and Casablanca are real classics so I definitely agree with you there Ell.
I loved French Kiss with Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline, I know it's dead cheesy but I just loved how it was set in Paris and Kevin Kline was such a scallywag!
I did see a film abolutely ages ago with a blonde gangster's mole and it was set in Italy, with an Italian photographer and a bright yellow...
Ell how often do you go to Hawaii, it just sounds amazing, in my head it's almost paradise-like! Especially as it seems such a long way away. Was it how you imagined it to be when you first went?
I think that would be wonderful to see, the sea never ceases to amaze me with its changing moods.
I loved Montmartre, it is exactly how I imagined Paris to be - full of artists and beautiful buildings.
Kaz is Amelie worth watching? It's another film I haven't got round to watching.
Requiem for a dream....is that the one with Jared Leto playing the lead? I haven't watched or read the book unfortunately but I have been planning to watch the film for quite a while now, I take it you recommend it? Would you recommend reading the book first? I always find that's a bad idea...
Poor Eeyore indeed....but how did it taste? What's the most exotic thing you've had to eat in China?
Idun I think I could handle the cold weather as long as I had a lovely view of the beach!
The last time I went to Paris was when I was 17 and I had the most amazing time. I heard lots of...
