    Most Beautiful Title?

What is the most beautiful title of a book? It doesn't matter if you've read the actual book or not. For me, it's Nino Ricci's "Where She Has Gone". I want to pick it up and lick it off the shelves because of that title. Alas, I still haven't had time to read it.

    Drama--NYC setting

I can't get enough of short (one-act) plays set in New York City! They're often hilarious and I love the depiction of the stereotypical actors' lives. Can anyone suggest more plays that are like this?

The Unbearable Lightness of Being--best translation?

I never knew that The Unbearable Lightness of Being was translated from Czech into English until a few days ago! Since I want to read the novel BUT I hate translated novels, I must find the best translation. Anyone who has read the book have any ideas on this? Thank you.

What books should I read next?

Thanks for your Postcards suggestion but I really would like to finish my reading list of 500 books before I add any more...I promised myself that!

Illustrated Children's Book! Wonderful but unknown!

Maybe it is...but I can't seem to find any images or even book covers of it (Amazon really isn't working with me right now). Do you know if you can provide a link so I can see the book cover or thereabouts? Thanks.

What books should I read next?

Hmm...since so many of you want me to read Life of Pi, I think I'll do that first. Next in popularity comes The Poisonwood Bible, so I'll romp through that after. But Peder, you're right, I should read something totally different so after that I'll read If on a Winter's Night a Traveler...

What books should I read next?

I always keep a list of what I want to read next, but then I go to the library and browse and think, "That list will be for next time. This time I want it to be based on serendipity." Well, not anymore! Here's my current list. Since I don't want to/don't have the ability to pick at random...

Illustrated Children's Book! Wonderful but unknown!

I keep on dreaming about/remembering this book I read that was akin to "Swan Lake" or "The Seven Swans" or something about swans. It was beautifully illustrated and the part I keep on dreaming about is a page where there is the picture of a ballroom by a lakeside. The ballroom is lit up golden...

Mark Z. Danielewski: House Of Leaves

Hey I've read that some people actually use it. If I had the book I'd look it over for kicks. PS did you get the softcover or hardcover version?

Mark Z. Danielewski: House Of Leaves

Hey thanks for your opinion and the links. I'm not rich or anything; do you think it's worth an extra $20 for the hardcover? Any other opinions on this?

Mark Z. Danielewski: House Of Leaves

Should I buy it? I heard it was a good scary book too. I want to buy it, but a) is this book worth buying? b) if yes, is it worth it to buy it in softcover ($20) or hardcover (and extra $20-->$40.)? I really need to make a decision. Thanks! And no, I don't want to buy a used copy.

    Poverty suggestions

Hi. I'm new here and am excited to join the community. Does anybody have any suggestions for good fiction or non-fiction (please indicate which one) on poverty and/or homelessness in developed countries? Thank you so much!
