    Dean Koontz: Velocity

Koonts the good and the bad I started reading Koonts books about twenty years ago. He has a huge collection and the first fifteen or so were excellent but after that they seemed to suffer badly from… I don’t know what. Perhaps he just ran out of steam or got lazy. After taking a break for many...

    Creativity.

Okay, I feel a great big Group hug coming on. Writing for me is about the stories I want to tell. Sometimes they are light and jovial sometimes they are dark and dangerous and sometimes they are just down right filthy (deftly stepping aside from the fact that sometimes they are just crap). I...

Dan Brown: The Da Vinci Code

The Holy blood and the Holy Grail I read the Da Vinci code shortly after it came out. I was interested in the subject at the time because I had written a book my self based loosely on the same theme. (Never got it published though). The codes in the book are all well planned out and described...

    what do you think?

Not Bad As a concept your idea has substance. It’s nicely written and well constructed. I would however suggest you look at how often you have used the word HOPE. I didn’t count exactly how many times you use, life is just too short, but it was noticeable a LOT. Other than that I liked it.

    Best of the best

I agree (Mostly) Hippopotamus is a very good book. As is his re-working of the “The Count of Monty Christo” called “The Stars tennis balls” (Crap Title but bloody good book) His Auto biography “Moab is my wash pot” is also very good. “Making history” is good but probably his weakest book. But...

    Best of the best

Good for you Wow an open mind; it’s nice to see. Let’s get one thing straight. I’m not a big “Fantasy head” or anything. I read across all genera‘s but if you ever wanted to try a fantasy book these two truly are right up there. Another all time favourite book of mine is Stephen Fry’s The Liar...

    Greetings, friends..

Hi Nice to see someone new. I’m only new to the site myself but I’ve had a lot of good discussions with the other member already. I read Life of Pie a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. If you write at all you should check out the “Writers showcase,” forum on this site. If you do I’m...

    Best of the best

Look it’s simple. Raymond E. Fiest’s, “Magician” and David Gemmell’s, “Legend” are the two best Fantasy books ever written. End of Story! Get over it!

Will Robert Jordan Die before he finished wheel of time series?

When I first saw the header for this piece my intention was to come and say something a bit witty about him dying. But of course if he actually is ill then it would have been in very bad taste, so I won’t. I will however say that I am not a fan of his books. He drags his stories out far too...

    John Norman: Gor

Blast from the past Wow, you’ve just sparked a memory from way back. I have only ever read one Gor book. I think it was called “The marauders of Gor.” But it was back in the eighties. I seem to remember something about, if you drew a circle in the sand around something or someone you took...

    J. K. Rowling: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows **CONTAINS SPOILERS**

The Pickelo I think it has something to do with, “Shooting for the sky,” only less ambitious. Although I knew a priest once who had a hole, (sorry that should of course be whole) different take on the word Pickle.

    Hysteria

Bad day at work Yeah, you’re right, it is forced rhyming. It’s just a cathartic piece. I had a bad day at work yesterday and wrote and posted it in just a couple of minuets. To be perfectly honest Poetry is not really my thing. Sometimes I write it just to get my mind flowing or as avoidance...
