    Nooooo!!!!! It's September

As you can see by gazing upon my avatar, I'm overjoyed to be feeling that change in the air. I love autumn and everything about it, and even after it's over, I much prefer winter to summer. It seems you can always warm up, but you can't always cool down!

    Edgar Allen Poe

Ooh, this thread makes me want to read The Masque of the Red Death and The Cask of Amontillado once more! Those are my two faves. My husband loves The Gold Bug.

    I do both. :)

    Do you talk to yourself?

Agreed! Very funny. I also talk to myself. Not frequently, but probably once or twice a week. It's usually to work out a situation (regarding work, marriage, friendship, etc.) and to decide what I will say when I have to say it to someone else. I think it's almost like therapy, really...

    Deodorant or Antiperspirant?

My husband is the same way as you, Motokid. He absolutely hates to wear antiperspirant. He says it doesn't come off in the shower and he feels like he has an inch of it on his underarms. As a woman, my preference is something strong but effective. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to Secret...

    Fairy Tales..

My husband and I saw "The Brothers Grimm" yesterday. While the movie left some to be desired (in my opinion, anyway), it did make me want to read the original Grimm fairy tales. I found the tales on Project Gutenberg, so I thought I'd share: http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext01/grimm10.txt

I've never read a fantasy genre book, where do I begin?

I'd like to give the fantasy genre a try. Would love to see any suggestions you guys here might have. I think I'd prefer to stay away from hardcore sci-fi and time travel types, but would enjoy anything with faeries, witches, and the like... What book and/or author would you recommend for a...

What would you want your last meal to be?

Okay, so you probably won't ever need to think about this, but I thought it would be interesting to see everyone's answers. Here's a link to the last meals of death row prisoners... What would you want your last meal to be?

    Your latest thrifty book buys

I guess this counts as "thrift" buying... I've been doing a lot of browsing on PaperbackSwap.com, and I've received these in the last couple of weeks: City of Dreams - Beverly Swerling On Secret Service - John Jakes Pompeii - Robert Harris The Hundred Secret Senses - Amy Tan Swan -...

    Dirty literary secret!

I read "Butterfly" by Kathryn Harvey earlier this year. That's probably not one I'd admit reading to just anyone...it includes a really good, trashy, sexy idea, though! :D

Audrey Niffenegger: The Time Traveler's Wife

I read this title about a year ago, and I really enjoyed it. I've never been much for time travel novels, because I tend to get lost in all the back-and-forthness. But this one didn't get me confused. I cried at the end, and I rarely cry at books. I wonder if they'll ever make a...

So what is it about Harry Potter that you like?

Who doesn't wish that they could cast spells when they are adults? :D
