Past visions of the future - Where's my damn jetpack?

I'm really enjoying it. I'm almost half-way through it, so I'm finally beginning to be able to follow what's going on. Heheh. I've actually taken a break from Gardens of the Moon, because a friend of mine has lent me his hardcover copy of Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss and I have been...

Past visions of the future - Where's my damn jetpack?

It amuses me that the "Star Trek Communicator" was once thought of as science fiction. Now... it is completely obsolete compared to my Droid Razr. I even have a "working" Tricorder app. Ha!

Past visions of the future - Where's my damn jetpack?

They actually did create successful jet-packs... but it turns out they aren't as cool, or as practical, as we hoped. I'm still waiting for holographic television.

    Zombie Apocalypse

Not me! I've been watching Zombie movies all my life. I know exactly what to do to survive. *nods* Will they be shamblers or will they be those quick ones? I hate those quick ones.

    The Vatican opens its library

I've no doubt that there are some really interesting, perhaps even fascinating, things available. I don't mean to take way from the things they will show us. I just hate knowing that there is so much more, hidden knowledge, that could be shared with the world.

    The Vatican opens its library

If the Vatican is opening some of it's library to the public, you can be damned sure that none of the really interesting stuff will be there. The Vatican is in the business of keeping it's secrets... secret. Besides, the last thing the Catholics want is the knowledge hoarded in secrecy by the...

    Recently Finished

The Kingdoms of Thorn and Bone series by Greg Keyes. I enjoyed the epic scope of it, but the ending was a bit too 'happily ever after' for my taste.

    Self-Promotion Forum Discussion

I'm not actually going to leave the forums over it. I just think that, if I were an author that needed to self promote my book and I saw a forum where readers hang out... and that forum had a place for self promotion... I, too, would post about my book in the hope that someone here might buy...

Where are you? (in the book you are reading) - please read 1st post

I'm at the border of the Empire of Crotheny, leading a battle against Hansa. We are outnumbered, but we have great magics at our disposal.

    Sci-Fi Adventure / Space Opera

I looked it up and it seems like it's exactly what I'm looking for! I've already added it to my Nook wishlist. Thanks joderu!

    Sci-Fi Adventure / Space Opera

Thanks, sparkchaser. I'm not a big fan of game related fiction for the most part, but I have been tempted to check those out in the past. Maybe I'll give them a shot if I can't find anything else. Who knows, I might be pleasantly surprised.
