Fantasy book with wizards and warriors and stuff?

I'll second these two. By far my two favorite fantasy authors.

Jack Ketchum: The Girl Next Door

    My recommendation from another thread.

    The Masters of Hard-Boiled Detectives

I just got Red Harvest, The Maltese Falcon, and The Thin Man in a single volume from the library. It will be my first time reading Hammett. Started John McDonald recently. I have read the first 4 McGee books so far and am really liking the series. James Lee Burke is my favorite mystery...

    Cormac McCarthy: The Road

Added both of your recommendations to my library list. The same mcilroga from BD? I didn't mind the lack of action (although it wouldn't have hurt the book at all to have some) but the wording was a little over the top. And someone earlier in the thread said that you get used to his...

Books similar to A Song of Ice and Fire

Just read his stuff in chronological order. Almost everything he has written ties in to this series. I believe it is Prince Of The Blood, The King's Buccaneer and then The Serpentwar Saga. Faerie Tale might be the only one that does not tie in. Let me know how you make out.

Books similar to A Song of Ice and Fire

I don't think really anything touches this series but I really like Ray Feists stuff. Has everything you are looking for. Start with Magician and Magician: Apprentice

Who are your favorite mystery writers?

I've read all his stand alone stuff but haven't touched that series. I haven't been interested and I don't know why. I love everything else he's done. Just a sports agent as the main character kind of sucks. Is it as good as the other stuff?

    Scariest Book Ever?

It's a little creepy and extremely well done.

    Scariest Book Ever?

The review for the movie based on this on (This review has spoilers)http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/review/1033 is excellent. Basically says it is almost exact to what is in the book. The reviewer said the woman next to him was crying and kept repeating "Please God let this poor child die". It...

    What is this book?

Exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you.

    What is this book?

I got two. I read this around 4 years ago I think. This is an alternative history book. In it the Cuban missile crisis was not averted and a lot of our major cities were destroyed. The book takes place mostly in the remains of NY if I remember correctly. Not much to go on, I know. This I...

Stephen King: The Dark Tower Series

Strange. I enjoyed The Gunslinger. After Wizard And Glass it may be my favorite. I do wish he finished this series years ago. He seems to be going so far downhill. Same problem with this series as with most of his later books. Really weak endings. Especially Cell. That one will bother me...

Jim Butcher: The Harry Dresden Chronicles

After reading the books do you still like the series? I was so dissapointed with it. For some reason I still watched every episode. Maybe just hoping it would live up. Two of the episodes were really good though. He just didn't seem to use enough magic and why didn't he get beat up more?

    James Lee Burke

You may be happy to read this. (If you like book to movie adaptations) The upcoming film version of In The Electric Mist With Confederate Dead will star Tommy Lee Jones as Robicheaux, Peter Saarsgard as Sykes, and will feature notable large men John Goodman, Ned Beatty, Tom Sizemore and Mary...
