Awesome! Great for you! You'll love it! Which box set did you get? Is it the one with pics of the characters on the covers of each? Or the one that says "His Dark Materials" going across all three when they're put together? Or some other one I don't know about?I bought the boxed set, and guess what they came in the mail today.
I bought my boyfriend the one with "His Dark Materials" going across all three.

I thought Tayeb Salih's name looked familiar. Seasons of Migration to the North sounds much better than The Wedding of Zein and Other Stories. I didn't care for that one at all. I added Seasons to my wish list.
I couldn't find Beautiful Antonio in English at Amazon US, do you have a synopsis?

Thanks for the blurb. I thought it must be a amazonuk thing..looks like a good book too. I might have to check the ILL stacks next. Who knows, somebody in Kansas might have heard of it. It could happen!

It's out of print in America, but you can get it from the Amazon Marketplace under it's original Italian name, Bell' Antonio. It's the same translation.

Now, I saw those links,but was in a hurry. I figured they were all the orginal language. I goofed once with an ILL that way, and got the nicest little book written in Russian. I'll pay attention this time
You will probably like it, it is a good read and a long one. The characters are great, almost all of the main characters are older, but some of the parts have me scratching my head. Parts go into a weird fantasy type world, you'll have to let me know when you are reading it.
