I watched this last night. To say it's bat-shit crazy would be an understatement, and that's coming from someone who's used to films that definitely veer away from the normal curve... however, it is definitely brilliant, no argument from me there; if you've more than a passing knowledge of...
This just came out on iTunes in the UK, and I grabbed a season pass and I'm two episodes in and loving it. Last night's episode was the one with the 'doll tree' and I found it to be sufficiently creepy, indeed. Hoping it maintains its strengths.
There was a huge controversy over the recent novelizations I understand? From following various background chatter on some of the video game news sites. Inconsistencies etc.
The game was fun, and had an interesting story for sure, but it became hassle and I couldn't be bothered to restart, and...
I think what's more embarrassing is that I could have just put the book in my bag, and returned it the next/a few days later without anyone having been any the wiser, when it had been read, as opposed to filling out a library card for it and logging this event in history... I was something of a...
I failed to complete Mass Effect 1 because I visited a planet in the wrong order and ended up in a boss fight that was way too hard for my skills and after like 40 attempts I quit... Also the whole Kinnect thing with ME3 is kind of off-putting in an RPG, no? Can't wait for Diablo 3 though...
I just watched the last episode of season 1 on iTunes tonight. Overall it was good, but the series started much stronger than it ended.
SPOILERS
When stuff happened in the last three episodes, it really stopped being scary and became far more predictable... shame really, as it genuinely had a...
Okay, promise to keep a secret? My secondary (high) school library ordered Sweet Valley High books quite possibly by mistake given that it was an English all-boys school that really wouldn't have normally stocked that sort of thing (hence why I noticed them on the side one day) and I happened to...
Hi Jeb, welcome to BAR.
Like yourself I am rarely serious, and you'll find most here have a good enough sense of humour to tolerate that I've found. Apart from Landslide and Polly of course, they're the brutal dictators of this fair board.
Have you read The Passage by Justin Cronin? You might...
Ah, they're okay. I understand and respect the whole U.S. right to 'bare arms' or 'bear arms' (loved that from Family Guy ;-) ) but they do freak me out a little coming from a non-gun society.
Hi Joyette, I too, like you, was happy to be here... once...
Then the moderators banned us regulars from voting in the book of the month choice for April. Now I feel sad and dejected. Then Peder started bullying me... he even tried to take my lunch money last week but luckily I packed rye bread...
And then there are those books which are super long, but that you wish would never end... like Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. Such an awesome book, weighty tome indeed and I almost sprained my wrist reading it on the train to and from work, but wow, it could've been three times bigger and I'd...
Hi Paul,
Have you tried any of Joe Abercrombie's stuff? I'd definitely recommend The Blade Itself and then the rest of the First Law Trilogy.
As for sci-fi, I don't read too much of that, but when I do it's almost exclusively Iain M Banks or Alastair Reynolds, two authors whose works I really...
I'd definitely go for the dedicated eink reader as it will prevent eye strain. Also, whereas the eink Kindle is several iterations/generations in, the Fire is not, and will likely get much better down the line, possibly when the other services/features on it are more refined too.
