After much poo-pooing I broke down and bought the first Harry Potter book. I put it down after 50 pages because I didn't care for it. The films are great but the book didn't excite my mind.
I don't think it was meant to be a traditional Sci-Fi film. It was a story about a mother's love for her child. The aliens and abductions were just the setting for the film and were basically secondary.
Which brings to mind Solaris, another film where there isn't much "sci-fi" action but...
Kill Bill 1 and 2 were WONDERFUL. I'm now going to refer to them as one film because essentially it really is. I thought Q did a great job, again . Good storyline and actors. The film is unconventional according to today's standards. It was reminiscent of the old spaghetti westerns (how I loathe...
I know. This film is wonderful. Very different from a lot of futuristic films I've seen. Great costume, set design and soundtrack. My favorite song from the film is from the taxi scene which is not on the soundtrack so I had to get it from Kazaa and I hate to do something like that.
So true. So true. Now tell me, is this horror book scary or gross. Because I love me some scary, where I can't sleep at night after reading, but gross and violence does nothing for me. So if it involves the supernatural and such then I'll give it a go.
Actually "translating" is done with a lot of English books and even some Americans ones if they don't like the grammar or the spelling the author originally used 100 years ago. It just doesn't make any sense to me.
I finished Catherine de Medici last night and it was great. I feel the author did a fair job of presenting Catherine without being partial like others are.
So now, after 464 pages of battles, royalty, love, death and European history I bought something light to read: "Where the Heart Is".
Don't laugh. I keep telling them it's going to get to a point where Harry Potter is going to lose his viriginity in one the books because he's getting too old for the innocent stuff.
And in every Harry Potter book there are over a hundred changes for the US audience. Guess americans don't...
I should make them pay for it. And I think the poke fun because they think I'm being too particular by wanting to read the original version without a word changed, but I'm like that with all my books.
Since we're on the subject of Asian Cinema...does anyone know the name of Korean film about a cop chasing a serial killer that is somehow connected to a young woman? In the end the cop finds she's the killer. I tried my local Korean film store but the woman at the counter only spoke Korean and...
Another One For The Underdog - Napoleon Dynamite
Just finished watching Napoleon Dynamite. I thought it was histerical. If your into indies than this one is worth watching.
