    Vikram Seth: A Suitable Boy

kool! my first book for the forums!!!!!! ... but before i tell my mom to buy it, i dont want her saying that its some incredibly adult book or something. what's it about basically? i can handle length, complications, and violence, and scenes similar to those in angels and demons and the soT...

    Hardback or Paperback

i prefer paperbacks because it makes the book seem longer, not to mention is compact, easy to carry, and cheap. also, all of my terry goodkind books are in paperback, so on the shelf it expresses the fact that im a voracious reader, especially considering that the second book is very visbly near...

I'm new to these forums so i apologize if this is a repeat thread. Anyway, if you could be a character from a book who would you be? Also what world would you choose for that character to live in? Or, what attributes do you wish you could have from your character but still be yourself (i.e...

    Science Fiction and Fantasy

i enjoy reading terry goodkind and david eddings mostly. terry goodkind because he bases each book on a "wizard's rule" which are also important human ideas, the firsty of which is in my signature. eddings, because of his new way of looking at life, a kind of cynical wisdom that opened my eyes...

    Recommendations for a Fantasy "Newb"

i cant see how you dont see the fact that each one supports a human principle important in life, and besides he gets past the sex crimes in naked empire ( i admitits the last book so far... but at least he got over them :D ) the point is, you have to read most of the series to realize...

    Do you read non-fiction?

personally i rarely read non-fiction, when i do its for research on medievel mythology (greek, norse, egyptian, etc.) to use in my books and such. but although i don't read philosophical books, i do read fantasy books that hold MUCH philosophy... i mean terry goodkind's latest book in the soT...

anyone notice that they never wore robes? ever! hermoine wore the same clothes for basically all of the movie!!!! though i cant say they didn't look good on emma... ;) :D jk, anyway, the point is that they completely ignored the telling of the secret-keeper's charm, and didn't explian who...

    Garth Nix - Childen's Fiction

I agree, Lirael was definitely the best of the series... though imust admit that witnessing the ninth charter was anything but tedious :D as for the keys series, its wonderful! i cant wait for "lady wednsday" to come! i also enjoyed the seventh tower books, though they were an incredibly easy...

    Medieval Fantasy?

id have to say that although its great fun stuff to read Rowling's work, its a bad place to start- that kind of fantasy is like a "wanna-be" in my opinion, compared that is to things like... eddings who is great!!! knightly feel as {insert name here} said :D and all of opon's im sure are great...
