Cheers Thomas. I actually have the Bryan Ferry album - Dylanesque. Some decent versions - If Not For You and Make You Feel My Love stand out.
By the way I have a number of Dylan originals also!! Can't beat Blood on the Tracks.
Haven't come across Esther Phillips yet - I'll do a bit of digging.
Hi bridgetjones, have you heard of a new English soul singer called Adele? Her debut album is '19'. Sample it at MySpace.com - ADELE - South London - Soul / Acoustic / Pop - www.myspace.com/adelelondon.
Really gritty voice and great melodies.
Looking forward, Bart.
Welcome Well-Thumbed. I note your Somerset Maugham signature. I've recently completed The Razor's Edge and am listening to Cakes & Ale on the commute to work.
Looking forward, Bart.

I'm interested to hear how you wonderful book-lovers and -livers place your stake in the ground when you're forced to retreat into the real world?
How do you mark your place in a book?
Now, as I'm completely intolerant of dog-ears . I generally use a home-made book mark - usually...
Welcome Dogear. Don't believe we've met.
In fact, I'm sure. You see, I just don't tolerate dogears on my book treasures!!
Enjoy the ambience. Cheers, Bart.
Just came across this lady's cover album of Bob Dylan songs. I like her easy-listening take on a number of Dylan's soft ballads. She lilts somewhat in trying to tackle Tangled up in Blue though - you just can't beat the original art sometimes.
She's just released an album of Nina Simone...
Swallows & Amazons?
Does anybody remember the Swallows & Amazon series by Arthur Ransome. Tales of school holidays where the Norfolk Broads are transformed to the high seas. I remember vividly borrowing these books from a mobile county council library which stopped opposite the church in my...
Eazy peazy Doris:
Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates
The Sportswriter by Richard Ford
The Razor's Edge by W. Somerset Maugham
And two short but wonderful little gems:
Pobby & Dingan by Ben Rice
Silk by Alexandro Barricco.
My mouth is watering already.
