discussion question about plot??? Anyone wish to take a gander??

Again to each their own. That's what I wanted to find out. What do people label as good reads. Plotless stories or prose strong stories. I think that lot's of people here would bed to differ on your opinion about King, but then again it is your opinion. I seem to think that you can write a...

So in essence to each their own. I guess there's no use to comment about authors who lack in certian areas because there are some out there that will love his/her work. Thanks guys for the insight!

discussion question about plot??? Anyone wish to take a gander??

That is my exact point, but what's the real question you ask? If you're not a good writer and sell books what does that say for those who are good writer's and don't sell any books. Afterall writer's don't put their books on the market just for the hell of it, it's not only a joy to write, but...

discussion question about plot??? Anyone wish to take a gander??

I didn't mean to make this a discussion about Dan Brown. So please don't think so. I can name several authors that I find IMHO that their writing is not that of Stephen King and other literary giants. There are a bunch of readers out there that don't recognize bad writing. When they read...

discussion question about plot??? Anyone wish to take a gander??

As a novice writer and a devout reader, I often question what makes a person read and write the way they do. In particular what makes readers read novels that are poorly written? For example: last week a young ACE worker at the hospital (these are students in school for nursing who obtain jobs...

Recommendation from the King fans out there

While thumbing through the massive king asile at Barnes and Nobels, I had a chance to read some his first pages from some of his novels. What really caught my attention were two books in particular. These two books were my final selections: Everything's Eventual & The Night Shift...

Recommendation from the King fans out there

Thanks guys for the suggestions. Thanks Ell for the boost of confidence. I was thinking of starting with some of his short works also. I'll research on Amazon and read reviews till I find the best one and then read it. I'll let everyone know how it went. Thanks again to all!

Recommendation from the King fans out there

I'm intrested in reading some of King's novels. I don't however want to waste a whole lot of time reading a novel that just wasn't his greatest. I would be greatful to any of his fans if you guys would recommend a book. Not just a book but his greatest. I love horror and still haven't read any...

    Michael Bailey: Palindrome Hannah

At one time I had no idea that sirmyk published a book. When I found out about the book, I ordered that same day. I read it in like 3 days and as stated before I enjoyed it much. It's one of those that just keeps you guessing. It also leaves you with meloncholy feelings regarding the characters...

    The Butcher in me

I understand Stewart's points althought I don't think I agree with him about who is a good writer and who isn't. Yes there are writers who seldom come around and produce masterpieces, but for the most part you have the writers who come around and produce a good story. Not everyone in the...

    The Butcher in me

Thanks again for the advice. I will pick up the book tomorrow at our local Barnes and Nobels and read it. Maybe I'll learn a thing or two. I know this re-wrtie is much sloppier. I did try to show and not tell as much as I could but I also learned that by doing so you lenghten your story by a...

    The Butcher in me

Thanks so much. I obviously have quite a lot to learn about the art of writing. I think however that with this last edit I managed to delete the flowery words and the adverbs. I know that it is not quiet what it should be. To be quiet honet I struggle with showing rather than telling. I think...

    The Butcher in me

Old Work--New Re-write~ It’s in the nature of humans to choose what they want to see and make observations about others according to their own insight. Sometimes however, things or people rather, aren’t always what they seem. For D.J. Crane, a second year seminary student at St. Mary’s College...

What's the WORST book you ever read?

I would have to say Angels and Deamons also. I hated that book! I still like Dan Brown thought. I also didn't care for The Devil Wears Prada it was okay but not my fave.
