Oh yes, I know this film well. I have Pride and Prejudice parties with my friends every once and a while, and we have all fallen in love with Darcy/Colin. I love Jane Austen's work, especially her male characters, because she makes them so easy to fall in love with. Her female characters...
My car is named Elphie (or Elphaba, depending on my mood), because she is green and wicked.
I always wear my seatbelt, unless I am just moving my car out of/into the driveway.
The left/fast lane is my favorite place to drive.
If my windshield is dirty, I will wash it, but it isn't a...
That is the biggest problem I have in my writing, especially according to my Journalism Professor.
Thank you all so much for your feedback, I will put it to good use.
Yes, Candide. I know it's a satire, but I had to read it for my AP European History class over Christmas Break, and it is absolutely one of the worst books I have ever read. I want to throw up every time I think about it.
You can kind of tell because his writing definitely gets better throughout all four of them. The only think that isn't cool is how his stories all have the same feel to them. He needs some new twists.
I'm not quite sure about my favorite death scene, but I'd have to say my least favorite would have to be Sydney Carton's lame death in Tale of Two Cities. I'm not going to talk about it, other than say, obviously Dicken's made a BIG mistake.
I just started American Gods today. I hope it's worth all the hype. I read Stardust a few months ago, and it was pretty good, but it didn't particularly stand out to me.
Juliet Marillier - The Sevenwaters Trilogy
Anything by David Eddings
Jaqueline Carey - Kushiel's Legend Trilogy
Most Neil Gaiman books
Elizabeth Haydon - Symphony of the Ages Trilogy
Some Anne McCaffery books
That's all I can think of for the moment. Give me time, and I'll come up with more.
Personally, I buy the edition of the book that has the best cover. But that's just how I am. If you were asking about if I liked a specific publisher as in what books they publish, I'd have to say Tor Fantasy.
One scene as I watch the raging snowstorm –
A man walks through an endless sheet of white misery.
Thin sweater, worn shoes, empty pockets.
Tears of tragedy cling to his cheeks
As he searches for a hot meal, a warm bed, a kind heart.
I sip my cocoa.
The abundant, though subtle love
of an eternal family,
runs so deep and stretches so far,
that one cannot possibly fathom it’s expanse
Yet, it is through small and simple things
that this love is expressed.
A few tender words on a card, which bring tears,
a random phone call just to...
Here's a short story that I wrote that has potential for more. Any ideas or suggestions? I'm sorry if I post a lot of my stuff, but I am really working on what I have written. I was in a creative writing class my senior year of high school, and I produced a lot of things in there that I am...
I'd like some advice. This is the beginning of a story that I was writing, and I haven't had a lot of time to think about where I'd like it to go. It's been sitting on the shelf for quite some time now, but I'd just like to know if you think I've written myself into a corner, or where I could...
Halloween is such a fun holiday. I've always loved to dress up (and working at a theatre has only made that more prevalent in my life) and what a wonderful excuse! This year I am going to be Emma Woodhouse from Jane Austen's Emma, and I have a marvolous costume. I can't wait!
The Chosen by Chaim PotokI read this book for my sophomore honors english class over Christmas break, and it was so beautiful. I learned so much from it. Everyone I know who has read it has loved it, and I highly recommend it. My head is so full of all the books I would like to recommend, but...
