E-readers, the future, or a fad?

I got me a kindle. It's really nice. I had thought it as some electronic gadgetry, but the screen is unlike screens of TV or other electronic devices. It's almost like reading on matte plastic of some sort. Not reflective, once gotten used to it, it's almost like reading on paper. I am a...

    Fairy tale suggestions

Original Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. Much more adventurous than the movie. My kids really enjoyed the book. And there is fear, much fear from Pinocchio and his father, Geppetto.

    inspire a young reader

My son, 10 year old, recently begged me to get The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan. Seems to be a hit with his school friends. My local library has it, and I reserved it but I'm number 300 something in line. So I bought it for him, and he gobbled it up several times. Others books by Rick Riordan...

Teachers who inspired your love of reading

This may sound real bad, but no teacher really inspired me with reading. All the books I was assigned to read, I detested them. I don't think I finished most of them. I probably skipped many chapters in the middle of those books, and read the endings. I was bad at English. One book I...

Solved - Outliers: The Story of Success Malcolm Gladwell

I read this book not too long ago. It discussed about how communications between an airplane captain and co-captain were causing problems with decision making to guide the plane to safety. The main problem was the language that was being spoken. After NTSB or some international...

Time to Play: Ask the Opposite Sex!

Ladies with cleavage showing. Our eyes just get drawn down to them as magnets, (my apologies, but it's genetically built in). Do you forgive, when a coworker loses focus and looks where he shouldn't for a half sec too long?

    Current Non-Fiction reads

Read Rachel's children. I can see people losing jobs, losing health benefits, then losing their homes so easily. Especially in current economic times. While reading Rachel's children, someone also recommended to me: A Framework for Understanding Poverty by Ruby K. Payne
