    Books based on isolation/solitude

Does I am Legend fit the bill? Maybe Robinson Crusoe or Life of Pi.

    Gay marriage

That wouldn't be relevant. You said: They key being that you claim they are at the forefront of nearly every major lawsuit.... They are not. Showing a group that does more proves nothing. If you had said "They are the group, as compared to all other groups, that does the most legal work...

    The depressing news about antidepressants

Edit for clarification: I don't think that all depressed people don't need medication. I think that very few of the people prescribed medication for depression actually need it, though some do.

    Gay marriage

If the law in unconstitutional, then it should be voted against. Once you start allowing unconstitutional laws sometimes, then you automatically invalidate the constitution. It is not a pick and choose kind of document. Ok.

    Gay marriage

  Yeah, ok. Keep believing that!::lol: No, I wouldn't say many are intentionally meanspirited. Misguided, absolutely. They are not working to deny anyone anything, but the reality is that they are only fighting for one group's rights and saying it's just fine to continue denying...

    The return of the Neocons(Newsweek)

Oh, I didn't mean the popular culture coverage. I meant their journalistic integrity and factual worth are on par with People Magazine.

    The depressing news about antidepressants

Another winning article from Newsweek. Yes, it could be that antidepressants are as effective as a placebo, but that's also likely because most people taking antidepressants don't actually have a physical problem causing their depression. I.E. they don't actually need the pills...

    The return of the Neocons(Newsweek)

Newsweek is a joke on par with People magazine.

    Gay marriage

No, the purpose of laws is not to deny certain desires. The sole purpose of law and government, in the United States, is to protect the right of the individual to self-determination up and until the individual attempts to infringe on the right to self determination of another. Murder is illegal...

    Gay marriage

Is it? Ok, what about human/non-human pairings? I listed them. There are also all the unknown pairings/groupings that may come up in the future. I'm not sexually deviant, so I have trouble fathoming what some other people might want to marry. Regardless, they're all banned until they start and...

    Gay marriage

Yes, and the rights of every other possible marriage combination that isn't one human male and one human female are also denied. Had the government never gotten involved, no one's rights on this matter would have been denied. If you fight to allow gay marriage, then you are only fighting for...

    Any good Horror novels?

I thought The Woman in Black by Susan Hill was a good ghost story. Very atmospheric.

    Unicorns

All I can think of now is Peter S. Beagle's The Last Unicorn, which you've probably read and should read if you haven't, and Diana Peterfreund's Rampant, which is a YA book about killer unicorns. I enjoyed both of them.

    Need some suggestions

Your friend is probably thinking of The Black Jewels trilogy, which is more graphic than her other books. I don't think she'd really fit in with what you're looking for. She's maybe graphic-lite. She mentions things that are more brutal than what you might find from other authors (torture...

    Gay marriage

Yes, but the tax system is another one that has gone far outside the realm of what is allowed. Private businesses are free to choose to alter (or not) their rates based on whatever they want, including marital status. That is a huge consideration, but it isn't excuse enough to continue on the...

    Gay marriage

Thanks, but it's not just my idea. The Constitution does not contain a provision for marriage, so the Founding Fathers then did not intend for the government to have that power. At least not the federal government. No, and they technically don't have the power to begin with. Should stopping...

Check out George R. R. Martin.

    And Then There Were None

Ah, that's what they meant by "closed circle"! I thought maybe something where the storyline ended in that book, as opposed to being carried over to other books in the series. Makes sense now.
