Fire Bringer sounds very interesting. I will look into it. Thank you. Actually, I am sorry to say after looking at the synopsis of this book, I won't be picking it up, because it sounds suspiciously too much like Watership Down. :sad:

Thank you for the response. Charles De Lint is a good recommendation, but I have already read him. I enjoy his older books, but I am not so fond of the newer ones. Your other recommendation looks very interesting. I will check that one out.

Forests of the Heart by Charles De Lint :stars1: Same boring characters, same tired old plot. The only books I have enjoyed by him are his older ones that are not set in Newford.

That was one of my problems with it. I thought it was a poor imitation of Jose Saramago's style.

I think so. In more ways than one. Another thing that sticks with me. How does one get off the island? With a wheel and fire. Hmmmm, more symbolism and metaphor.
