    Charles Dubow: Indiscretion

Well I guess this book isn't for everyone. I just really enjoyed it and wanted to share it on here in case anyone heard of it or read it.

    Charles Dubow: Indiscretion

I placed it on hold in the library, ok? I bet, by the time I get it, you will be done and onto the next one. However, I will read it and while reading it, try to get a discussion going with you.

May 2013: Kathryn Stockett, The Help

That is incredible to hear individuals stories on determination and going through triumph. It helps re-evaluate your own outlook on life.

May 2013: Kathryn Stockett, The Help

Very true. I understand what you mean. I have noticed that even Blacks will stereotype other Blacks which makes it a very vicious cycle. Very interesting to hear the more immigrant side of the story as well.

    Charles Dubow: Indiscretion

I didn't mean to say I read it fast for anyone to assume I was showing off. I only meant that it was so good that I couldn't put it down. You are seriously going to put down every book I have read so far, aren't you? Well, since my books aren't up to par with you, what do YOU suggest I read...

    Patricia McCormick: Sold

I assuming you mean the one I am talking about, right? It is called Sold by Patricia McCormick. It was amazing. :)

May 2013: Kathryn Stockett, The Help

Very similarily, that was how I viewed it! Like you said, it was a way of life. But hey, not everything is everyone's cup of tea. That is interesting about your own life connection with the book. I can see that making much more sense to you personally since you encountered it face to face. The...

What Jane Austen book should I start with?

Definitely wasn't like Shakespeare. No I know it was. I meant in the aspect of comprehension, not the actual language. I didn't mean in the actually way it was written i.e. iambic pentameter, soliloquies, etc. I meant difficult to comprehend when first reading it since it isn't written the same...

    Patricia McCormick: Sold

I guess so, huh? Well, to each their own again (haha). I am open to any new books, but it seems that each character I end up reading about tends to be female. Maybe I relate more to them (haha). HOWEVER, this might be strange, but I enjoy reading books that are written by the opposite sex about...

May 2013: Kathryn Stockett, The Help

Oh ok. I didn't find the book to be a lot about race, more-so on the time period in general- that was just how it was. BUT to each their own. Glad you were able to decipher whether you liked it or not from the thread. That is another perspective towards reading reviews/discussions.

    Patricia McCormick: Sold

Has anyone read this? I actually read this years ago when I was 14. I decided to re-read it again because it's powerful vignettes help us understand what a young woman is going through being put into sex slavery in India. It is honest with the details and feelings. I felt I was the young...

What Jane Austen book should I start with?

I am a little scared that it will be tough to read. I keep thinking it's going to be similar to Shakespeare and I don't know why!!

May 2013: Kathryn Stockett, The Help

No problem. I just started on this forum so the thanks goes to the others more than me. However, I am just plainly curious, what is it about the book that draws you away. I do NOT mean that in any negative way, for there are plenty of books that I had to turn my head too for the mere fact of...

What Jane Austen book should I start with?

Very interesting! Well, the great thing about this book is it has all the novels in one anyway, so I can read multiple ones and they are all right there.
