    Quentin Jardine's Bob Skinner novels

    Quentin Jardine is another of my favourite Scottish mystery authors - he has written a number of novels (12 or 13 at the last count) mostly about Police Chief Constable Bob Skinner. Jardine's novels are set in Edinburgh and although I prefer Ian Rankin, I also enjoy Jardine's books.

    Quintilian Dalrymple series by Paul Johnston

    This is a set of 5 novels by a Scottish author called Paul Johnston. Like Ian Rankin's Inspector Rebus novels, his books are set in Edinburgh but in the 'near' future (2020s). They are set in a Dystopian time and in essence are police thrillers. http://www.paul-johnston.co.uk/books/quint.htm

    Ian Rankin

    Ian Rankin is a Scottish writer. He writes great police crime novels and his 'hero' is Inspector John Rebus, a maverick police inspector who drinks too much and is often in the 'bad books' of the police hierarchy in Edinburgh. His books are so well written. Reading them is a bit like taking...
