Well the most critically acclaimed political thriller of all time is 'The Day of the Jackal' by Frederick Forsyth, which literally changed the landscape of british thrillers when it came out in 1971. Id say my favourite is The Odessa File by the same authour.
Well Id have to say it was those spy novels of frederick forsyth and robert ludlum that got me into writing. But the person most influential in my writing style is probably wilbur smith, who's poetic scenes of action and swashbuckling keep coming up in my stories.
Well ive read all of wilbur smith's stuff, he's one of my favourites. I wouldnt call his recent books sea stories (Blue horizon in particular) since most of the story progresses on land.
