Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel
I just finished Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel. That one certainly took me awhile, but I am glad that I made the investment. I thought it was really good, but not great. Unfortunately I can’t quite put my finger on why this is. If I come up with something...
Rebecca
I adored Rebecca. I will admit that I didn’t have high hopes for it when my roommate insisted I read it – but wow, I was won over pretty darn quickly! I think Maya uses the term ‘brilliant’ appropriately. The language and imagery are just so beautiful and vivid. And the main...
I enjoyed the movie. I haven't eaten McD's in years (and then I was stuck on a road trip with guy friends who will eat anything), and the film certainly reinforced my previous beliefs.
I think most of the movie's naysayers haven't watched the film. Yes, we all know eating McD's ain't good...
If you didn't like Zoolander, these might be a miss as well:
Dodgeball
Old School
Drowning Mona (greatly under-rated)
Oh brother, where art thou (if you like George CLooney)
Welcome to Collingwood (again, clooney does crime caper)
Wet Hot American Summer (just good stupid fun)
hope...
I suppose I can forgive you this once, Jay. But lets not let is happen again, hmmm.? ;)
I haven't read confessions, but I did read Lost and Mirror Mirror. Mirror was the fairy tale theme again (snow white) and was quite disappointing. Lost was completely different and, well, just plain weird.
Bill Murray DOES rock, graydaisy! As do Owen Wilson, Willem Dafoe and Wes Anderson. If you've liked Wes's other flicks, you'll likely get a kick out of this one. But it's definitely not his strongest film - so if you're not a fan, you might not dig it.
I know I saw the first Matrix, and i think the third one (though wasn't my choice). I found them annoying and the acting was horrible (with the exception of Fishburne, of course). And yes, Equilibrium wasn't a great movie, but I liked it better than Matrix.
Bale
I'm glad to hear this, Martin. There's another movie I really like him in, but I can never remember the name of it. I think it’s called Equilibrium. It was surprisingly good (despite his Keanu-esque tendencies).
I'll agree with you there. I hadn't heard that Maguire was doing another Oz-themed book. I really enjoyed Wicked, though others of his I've read I haven't liked nearly so much.
oh riiiiight. I think I knew that. :)
StillILearn: I don't recall, exactly. I just know I have less than 100...
White Stripes
Are other folks as disappointed with the new White Stripes album as I am? From the reviews I read, I wasn’t expecting a whole lot. But I just loved the other ones so much, I figured this one couldn’t be that bad.
Damn.
