If it is the body snatchers I am thinking of no. In those, the bodies were replaced. In this book he can actually talk to this thing in his head, and keeps it from taking over with the threat of suicide.
Thanks for the reply. I don't think it is the same one. This guy has whatever it is inside him, and he is keeping it from taking over his body. I remember one part where the parasite, or whatever it is, is trying to take control, and the guy threatens to kill himself with that razor he carries...
Because they are worth it!
Yes, I am having fun rebuilding my collection. But I seem to be pulling books in too fast. Most likely because I don't feel really comfortable unless I have books surrounding me.
Much, much, MUCH longer. However, according to a website I visited today, "Knife of Dreams" (October 2005) is the "second to the last" book in the series. I have to admit I am terrified. He has so much to close up and I have terrible thoughts of these last books being 8000 pages each. We shall see.
The Starrigger Series - John DeChancie
The first three Dragon Riders of Pern books
Honor Harrington - David Weber
The Stainless Steel Rat and HomeWolrd Trilogy- Harry Harrison
Swan Song - Robert McCammon

The Crystal Cave
The Hollow Hills
The Last Enchantment
The Wicked Day

I read one a while back (a LONG...
I enjoy all of Eddings early series. I don't see how you could like the Belgariad/Mallorean and not like the Elenium/Tamuli, considering they were almost the same books! LOL. I like his characters though, and the way they interact and for that reason I don't mind the similarities between them. I...
It was mostly water damage from snow melt seeping in through cracks in the wall (now sealed). After that, the mold set in. Fortunately, on my return she met me at the door and said goodbye. By the time I found out about the books she had been gone a while, it saved me from doing something...
I am looking for a book I read (eons ago) when I was a teenager. I remember very little about it except:
1. It is Sci-Fi
2. It involved some sort of parasite that took over its host
3. The main character in the novel had somehow taken back control of his body
4. He wore some sort of blade...
Hello everyone! My name is David and I currently reside in North Carolina. I stumbled on this site during a search and decided to pop in and see what it is like. I read a lot, I don't stick to Sci-Fi/Fantasy though it is my favorite. I am in the process of reacquiring a collection, as my...
