Reading the book, when you have seen the movie?

I watched the first Lord of the rings first then read the book. Found I loved the book despite having seen the movie first. Read the second two books before I watched the next films and found I was slightly disappointed with the films. Same as Harry Potter, watched the first four before I...

    Favourite reads, growing up?

Loved Nancy Drew and the Sweet Valley High books. Also Enid Blyton, particularly the famous five and I have a fair few of the Claude Voiler famous five books too. Roald Dahl was amazing I think Matilda has to be my fav! Also I loved and am still reading Brian Jacques' Redwall books. They...

Favourite Narnia Adventure? (and not so favourite)

I think The Lion The Witch and The Wadrobe would be my favourite simply because it was the first I read (and watched) and so began my love of the whole series! I think my least fav would be either the Horse and the Boy but could well be The Silver Chair. I think the Silver Chair was my least...

Any suggestions for romantic drama novels?

Not sure if its exactly what you want, but Penny Vincenzi's Spoils of Times series is very good! think the first one is called No Angels.

a friend of mine cant find this book, she is convinced it was called starchild and she read it about 30 years she was sure the main character came in a starship or portal to come down to the earth, and he somehow managed to get a group of people together (im not sure how and she cant remember)...

do you keep track of the books you read?

I dont count my books or anything or write the dates when I have read books, but I have a list of all the authors I like and mark off when I have read a book by them. I keep it in my bag so that when Im buying a book I know if I have already read it or not! I also have to mark down which books I...

    Being SCARED by a book

A while back I was off sick from work and I read a Mary Higgins Clark book. I had to put it down after a while because what with being ill it was playing tricks on my mind! On Sunday just gone, I was about 60 pages from the end of Salems Lot and I really could not read any more so I had to...

    Mary Higgins Clark

I love Mary Higgins Clark! I have only read a few though, I loved Where are the Children. I read While my pretty one sleeps recently. I loved it so much I even bought the film! Its not too bad for a film from a book actually!

    Reading Frenzy

Have you finished this book now? I just wondered what you thought of it and whether it was worth reading it?

    Helen Fielding: Bridget Jones's Diary

I saw the film before I read the book, simply because I didn't realise there was a book, but I really felt the film was much better than the book. Ive watched the second film but havent bothered with the other books.

    Where were you on 9-11?

I was at college, I heard some bloke talking about flying a plane into a building but thought he was talking about a film. When I got home in the afternoon I figured out what he was talking about because there were no TV programmes on other than the news. I can't understand the logic of the...

Harper Lee: To Kill A Mockingbird

I had to read this for my GSCE English Lit exam too. I loved the book, and I think we watched the film too. Defo worth reading IMO.

    Kevin Wells: Goodbye Dearest Holly

Has anyone read this? Its written by the father of Holly Wells who was murdered along with her best friend Jessica Chapman, and it's quite interesting to see how things go for the family from their perspective. Its also incredibly sad and I cried most of the way through it. It shows how much...

    Wonderful, wonderful books

This is true in some respects! Like, when your supposed to be meeting up with a friend you haven't seen for ages and they cancel at the last minute, ordinarily would annoy me, but in the middle of a good book you have to stop yourself from screaming "YESSSSS" down the phone! However, I get...

    Why is it?

That when your reading in bed and you finally decide this must be the last chapter tonight because your eyes are struggling to stay awake any longer, you get to the end of the chapter and something really good happens? And then you can't possibly go sleep now you need to find out what happens...

    Pirates of the Caribbean 2

I watched this when it first came out over here, and thought it was ok, I didnt realise that the second two films would be one long film split into two and was a bit disappointed to be fair. Plus, I didnt stay for the credits because I didnt know too, and plus I was dying for a wee! I've...

Are you picky about the condition of your books?

I'm really not fussed as I buy a lot from the market, or have them passed to me from friends/family etc. I do like the smell of a brand new book though!

    Reading Frenzy

I'm on my fifth this month, but its quite long so it will take me a while to finish the one im on! I have read Angela's Ashes because everyone seems to rave about that book and the film. I couldn't see the fascination of the book, and when I watched the film they did quite get that feeling...

J.R.R. Tolkien: The Lord Of The Rings

I think the 2nd and 3rd films were the best, just for the special effects! I think probably the second book in the three LOTR trilogy was my favourite. I havent yet read the Hobbit but its on my never ending list of things to read!
