Most state schools (like the one I go to) in Britain break-up in the 3rd week of July, and go back in the 1st week of September (just like Harry). Public, prep, boarding and single-sex schools (like the one you go to, (sorry about that, Lokeo, it's hard to tell on-line!)) usally have longer...
A toad in a fluffy, pink angora cardigan? *snerk*
With a pink Alice-band on?? *snigger*
Sipping tea from a bone-china cup with her pinky finger stuck out??? *falls off her chair laughing madly, finally straightens up, brushes herself off, and looks sternly at everybody gazing at her...
Hi! Remember me?
'Lord of the Flies' is really gruesome, obscene and absolutely *horrid*. Sort of a perverse Darwinism. I don't know though, maybe you'll like it (boys like that sort of thing, right?)
Tell your teacher you have a weak stomach to get out of reading it; believe me, they'll...
Oh, I know what you mean! The 1st book was so light-hearted in comparison! It's a bit frightening how the last two books have turned out. They've just been so *dark*.
I think I only got a real feel of it in book 4 when the Death-Eaters started their 'Muggle-baiting' at the World Cup, it...
Yes, give us genre, a short summery, an idea of the length of your manuscript and any other quotes you may have!
I'd love to give it a read through, but I wouldn't want to post my
e-mail address around a message-board, even a reputable one like this.
I'd also be more than happy to...
Whoops! Sorry!
Sorry, didn't mean to offend anybody! (Insert meek look.)
I was only trying to point out that it wasn't the most delicate of expressions. Anybody who's a fan of Terry Pratchett will remember that it's Nanny Ogg's greeting of choice, and she certainly isn't the most delicate of...
I wonder what Harry will go on to do after he leaves Hogwarts. I know he says he wants to be an Auror but I always hoped he'd go on to be a Quidditch player for England.
Do you think maybe after batterling the greatest Dark Wizard who ever lived for 7 years he'd want to go on to catching...
In 2001 Rowling wrote 2 extra books for Comic Relief (namely ; 'Quidditch through the Ages' and 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'.)
In the publishers information, however, it dosn't give the name of any other publishers outside of England. Does this mean other countries in which the...
Thanks!
Thanks Lokeo! It's nice to have someone agreeing with me!
I think I've already said this before on another post, but does anybody else think Umbridge must look just like that slug receptionist in 'Monsters Inc.'??
(Please somebody agree with me again. Indulge the mad-women.)
;)
We bought it at a super-market (my mum had heard that Tesco's was selling it 59p cheaper than anywhere else, (old skin-flint that she is.)) at 8:00 am the morning it came out.
I put it in the middle of my book-shelf ,the Place of Honor, (usally reserved for my Tolkiens') and resisted it lure...
So difficult to choose!
I know Rincewind is popular but I have to say it's a close draw between Vimes and Nanny Ogg.
(Maybe it's their common liking for alcohol that does it for me.)
Has anybody read 'The Wee Free Men' yet? I'd love to discuss it with another Discworld fanatic.
OK, I'm really upset about Sirius dying in book 5. I think he had loads of potential as a character (more so than, say, Arthur Weasley or Tonks.) I think a father figure would have been good for Harry in the long run, all though his death could present some interesting plot-devices.
But...
Relply to 'tea cozy' spoilers for OotP
Hey, everyone!
Yep, a tea cozy *is* a covering for a teapot! Well done! (How could anyone not know that?? Anyway I heard Rowling included a glossary of British terms in the back of her books meant for the American market. So is that not true, then?)...
