Amen to that.

This is all I remember of my differential equations II class:

Instructor: "Here is a third order differential equation. Let's use the X method to find the solution."


Five minutes later...

Instructor: "OK. That didn't work. Now let's try the Y method."


Ten minutes later...

Instructor: "The Y method doesn't appear to work either. Let's try the Z method."


Fifteen minutes later...

Instructor: "As you can see, that didn't give us our solution either. Did I mention that differential equations involves a lot of trial and error?"
