I had to read The Count of Monte Cristo in high school. But I throughly enjoyed it! I'm about to reread it now!

actually he had many ghost writers. but there are many other novels he wrote without ghost writers (it's generally documented) and he's also a brilliant playwright and he never collaborated on his best plays. also, Dumas brilliant plotting from his playwriting days shines through in his novels - you can tell. A lot of his style and ideas in his novels are similar to stuff he's written in this like memoirs and articles, which are definitely by him. so while he had collaborators that did historical research, etc... he did a lot of the actual *writing* which is what I love.
