Anne McCaffrey's Pern novels...

Years ago, at the local dump, I stumbled across a used copy of "The Harper Hall of Pern" collection in the used goods area (consisting of books, vhs, vcrs, furniture, stuff that was still in reasonably good condition that was being given away)

I read it, I loved it, and I still have it to this day.

Now, I have two questions.

How many books were there in the Pern series and in what order should I be reading them in?

Also, where can I find the artbook that contains artwork of the world of Pern (I could have sworn my uncle had an artbook, but I don't know if he still has it)?

That has a suggested order and a chronological order listed over on the left. I think I pretty much went with the suggested order when I read it but since the books take place at many different times and a lot aren't really connected to others you can jump around a bit without missing anything. Now her son is writing in the series too and well there are ton of books. I even read the two book fan fic series at http://www.dragonchoice.com/dc/dctitle.htm which I thought were better then a lot of the official books. I enjoyed the series but they do get repetitive after a while. Her son's work is pretty mediocre at best IMO.

As an FYI her Son is continuing the series, so there will be new books coming out.
