I use the term bootleg as we aren't the *official* discussion group for the month, but what the heck?

Here is the deal-I've picked five of the top 5 non-fiction books of 2007 as chosen by the national book critic circle. You can find the list here. We'll have a vote over the span of a week and then the discussion is on! Please join, I don't want to post fifty-five straight times just to be stubborn, but I'll do it.

Why should you participate?
1.)These are great books, one and all
2.)You should read something new
3.)I'll post 55 times straight and that gets boring for you:D
4.)If you're like me and think the forum is dead, you can be a part of the problem, or the solution. PARTICIPATE!

You can read more about the picks here:

-Sacred Games by Vikram Chandra

-The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz

-The Gravedigger's Daughter by Joyce Carol Oates

-In The Country of Men by Hisham Matar

-The Shadow Catcher by Marianne Wiggins

So, please vote and weigh in. Discussion and possible persuasion of others is HIGHLY encouraged.

Actually, you listed the fiction titles.

Hey, isn't it against the rules of this forum to post threats?

I don't know what it is lately, I can't post to save my life.:(

That's the rumor. Supposedly, the mods are cracking down on people who post to save bandwidth. :D

That one is rubbish. The author struggles to understand his own narrator.

I'm unfamiliar with the author or the book. Of all of them, I've only heard of the Junior Diaz book through a Christian Science Monitor book review article.

I wouldn't mind discussing one of these although they seem a little out of my normal range.

However, "The gravedigger's daughter" is only available in the UK as hardback at the moment. Owt, but that.
