Books on Indian Politics and Social Structure

I have a long list of capitalism, communism, Liberty, Politics written by English authors like Hayek, Karl Marx, Aristotle etc. but I don't have any books that explain my country's political, economical and sociological landscape. I am only able to find one which is the autobiography in return and can not be trusted much ( like Bill Clinton's autobiography).

I hope you have read something on these subjects and have some advices

I haven't read it, but maybe Arundhati Roy's The Algebra Of Infinite Justice might be useful? Or Prem Shankar Jha's The Perilous Road to the Market: The Political Economy of Reform in Russia, India and China?
