Damn should have seen this thread sooner, me and Ice were in Geneva for Valentines - it was very puuurdy in all the snow, and the cold just seemed relaxing rather than .. you know .. cold

Have to say, the city was lovely, not overly large, not huge numbers of tourist attractions but nice and clean and it felt safe wandering the streets at night.

I gather you took the picture of the flower clock from the very edge of the curb! Ice ran out in the middle of the road and started snapping shots off, whilst I tried to haul her back in when the cars started whipping around the corner! She has a habit of doing this, did it in Rome as well to get some decent shots of the Coloseum with the video camera!

Yeah, that's right, the edge of the curb. My camera - even with wide angle lens - couldn't capture the whole of the flower clock.

I always try to get the best photo I can - if that means being in the middle of the road then so be it (though Phil does exaggerate slightly! I was attempting to take a photo when the cars were coming past but in the end decided to wait for a red light and then go out to get a photo - i'm sure all the drivers must have thought I was mad )

Hmmm, I have less than lovely memories of Vienna from a couple of weeks ago, standing in the queue at customs waiting to be let through. The conversation went slightly like this -

"Excuse me, our plane is leaving in five minutes, could we possibly be let through or something."
"No, no, you stand in cue, the plane will not leave."
"Right, so you're sure about that?"
Much nodding and smiling on the other end.

Needless to say the plane went without us and I stormed off in a huff Luckily the voice of sanity prevailed (Ice as well! ) and we got a flight half an hour later to Geneva. Bah, Customs!!

A walk in the streets of Vienna will do much to calm your anger and quell your unfortunate memory of silly customs officers.

Ice, my photos does not do Vienna justice. I mean, a pole right in front of the Rathaus! However, it was the best I could do without carrying a tripod everywhere I go.

Anyway the city council organized a ice skating rink right in front of it for the folks to enjoy. So nice. Imagine ice skating in front of the mayor's office.

I think you may find that was Zurich We've never been to Vienna (you know that place in Austria )

The things that annoys me most about Swiss customs is the fact I have to remove my boots every single time I go through the scanners
