I just finished reading Julius Winsome which was only Donovan's third but very well done book. It is only 223 pages so it is a very quick read and it reminded me a little bit of Cormac McCarthy's The Road. Both stories deal somewhat with issues of tragedy, solitude, hopelessness and redemption and both are relatively short stories with very few characters. This one isn't quite as gloomy as McCarthy's recently famous book but it is just as serious. Here is a synopsis. Read it.
