I love this story, as I do much of Lovecraft's work. I clicked through your link, and though I'd read the story several times already over the years was pulled immediately back into it.
Is it just me or is there something hypnotic about Lovecraft's prose? I don't mean poetically enchanting or such, just disarming enough to suck you into its dark well until its done injecting your mind with more fear juice and then spits you back out into reality again. That sort of hypnotic ;-)
