Sorry, no, I just didn't care for Pratchett. As for British mystery writers, there are quite a few. Ruth Rendell, Caroline Graham, Martha Grimes (American but writes the Inspector Jury mysteries.) Peter Robinson, Minette Walters, Jill McGown, etc. Of course Elizabeth George and an entire series by Deborah Crombie.
